Hi I'm Michael

I'm a trainer for an EdTech company. I'm happily married and I am the father to two boys and a little girl.

About Me

I'm married and we have two little boys and a baby girl. I try to spend as much time with my family as possible. We love going on walks and bike rides around the neighborhood and keeping our light saber dueling skills sharp through daily practice. I am a software trainer for an educational technology company that teaches students language and literacy skills. I'm passionate about teaching and training. I love seeing the light turn on in someone's eyes while I'm training them a new skill or concept. I love new technology and helping people solve problems and change their lives for the better through the use of technology. I'm always interested in learning about a new app or cool website that makes life better. I love music! My home was filled with music growing up. I play the trumpet and guitar and a little bit of piano. I love singing and performed with a six man a cappella group through high school and college. We recorded two albums and put on several concerts during our run as a vocal group. Life has pulled us in different directions now but we still love singing together when we get the chance. I also enjoy acting and I've performed in a couple musicals.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of stalwart members of the Church. Many of my ancestors joined the church when it was restored by Joseph Smith in 1820. I was raised in a church-going family and was taught the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ by loving parents in my home. The Church was not a separate part of my life but rather was my life. I didn't just go to meetings on Sunday and then go through the rest of the week never to discuss the scriptures of teaching of Jesus again. We read the scriptures every day as a family and we had an evening at home every Monday night to discuss the gospel. These experiences shaped who I am and helped me to have a good solid understanding of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, I still had the desire to know that the things I had been taught all my life were true and correct. I wanted to know for myself; independent from my parents and siblings that the Church was true. I took the time to determine for myself that the church was true. I knelt in prayer numerous times to ask God if what I'd been taught was true. Many times I felt peace and an assurance that the Church is true. Knowing that the Savior suffered and died for me and provided a way for me to repent and be better brings me joy and comfort.

How I live my faith

When the Savior was on the earth he went about doing good, healing the sick, and teaching the truths of heaven. He has asked us to follow his example by ministering to those that surround us that need assistance. It is my privilege to be a friend, a listening ear, and a representative of the Savior as I visit with and nourish my neighbors with the word of God. This call to serve is never easy nor convenient; however, it is always fulfilling and I receive more than I give.
