Hi I'm James

I'm from New Hampshire, I play the bagpipes, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from New Hampshire and I love America. I love my state's motto: "Live free or Die!" Defending and preserving our God-given freedom has always been one of my passions. The examples of our great Founding Fathers and other faithful patriots have always inspired me and endowed me with an appreciation for the cost of liberty. I come from a Scottish hertitage and love playing bagpipes! I love snowboarding, paintballing, and the great outdoors. I am currently majoring in Electrical Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

In the Church, we often refer of those who were not born in the church, but later became members, "converts". I was born and raised in the faith. However, I still like to call myself a "convert", because I too, had to develop my own testimony that this church really was true. I don't think there has been any one incident or spiritual experience that marked the beginning or the completion of my knowledge. Rather, it has been thousands of "small and simple things," simple yet profound moments, through which God has witnessed to me that these things are true. As I have repeatedly read from the Book of Mormon, God has told me in my heart by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true. Anyone who reads and asks God with real intent to know if the Book of Mormon is true will receive an answer that it is His word. For two years I lived in the greater Washington DC area. During that time I met thousands of people from over a hundred countries around the world. I have learned of their cultures, beliefs, and values. It is truly a testimony that when any people seek God, He reveals truth to them. The beauty of this gospel lies in our belief that God's pure, original religion has been restored through a living prophet just as in the beginning! It combines--completes--ALL those truths. This gospel incorporates all the truths found in Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, etc. Our invitation has always been: Come, bring the truths you have and let us add even more.

How I live my faith

My faith positively affects every aspect of my life. As a young man, I was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America, which allowed me to serve my community and allowed me to put in practice the principles of the gospel: service, leadership, loyalty, love, and honor. Later, I served a mission in northern Virginia where I had the opportunity to serve and teach a diverse demographic of God's children about Him. Studying engineering has opened my mind to the incredible planning, balance, and order which characterizes our world. My academic study only strengthens my faith in (as one of my Muslim friends named Him) the Great Engineer of the Universe.
