Hi I'm Mickey

When the sun's out, I'm a happy Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in southern California and lived there for all of my childhood. I grew up in a family of six children. Right now I'm in Ohio serving a mission. After my mission I plan to go back to college to study statistics. I like to play hockey, the piano, and the games on the backs of cereal boxes. I really enjoy keeping a journal. I've completed eight journals in the last year and I hope to keep writing. Each time I write, it's like adding another little episode of my life, and when everything's all put together, I can more easily see who I am and what kind of influence God has played in my life. Some say I'm a picky eater, but that's okay with me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I think like most who are born in the church, I just needed to find out if it was the true church or not. So I technically joined the church when I was eight, but it became a real part of my life when I was about 16. Growing up in the church I knew quite a bit about what we believed. I did some studying in the scriptures, I studied some beliefs of other faiths. Ultimately, it came down to how I felt about what I was learning. I knew if the church was true, then I would have complete direction in my life, if not I would just have to keep looking. Well, obviously I'm here so I found my answer. I know it came from God, because I could feel the power of His Spirit. The feeling wasn't just something I created out of my own imagination. I honestly wanted to know that the church was true, and God let me know.

How I live my faith

I simply just try to be like Jesus. I study the scriptures and pray so I can learn more of what He would do if He were in the situations that I'm placed in. Because of the experiences on my mission, I've grown to just want to serve other people. I'm still not all that good at it, but I try to be selfless. Praying has played a major role in my life.

What is faith?

For me, faith is being able to have a hopeful look on the future. It's the power to overcome any obstacle or make it through any tough time. Having faith makes life easier to live. When I have faith in Jesus Christ, I look to him as the kind of person I want to become. It's not just knowing that God is real, it's following him and becoming more like him. Faith covers many aspects of life, I've seen it in many places and have recognized that many situations require faith, whether big or small. But whatever happens, having faith will always bring hope and happiness.  Show more Show less
