Hi I'm LuAnn

I grew up in Utah. I am a nurse, but most importantly, I am a Mom to 6 children! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom to 6 wonderful children. I also have 12 grandchildren that are so fun to be around. I have been a nurse for many years and work at a local health center which I love. I love to read, go camping in the mountains, play the piano, and bake bread!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon faith. I have always loved learning. When I was in high school, I was able to visit many other faiths and learn about their beliefs. This helped me to better understand my own beliefs. When I was away at college, I was reading the Book of Mormon. In one of the chapters, the Savior, Jesus Christ, was blessing the children here in America, after His resurrection. At that time, I had an incredible feeling come over me and I knew that the Book of Mormon was true. I was so grateful to know that the Savior was real and that He loves all of us. I have since that time, been able to study in detail many things about the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been such a blessing to me and has brought me much peace to know that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are aware of our needs and will help us as we journey through this life.

How I live my faith

I am able to teach a lesson once a month to the women in our ward. I have also been able to work in one of our temples, which I really loved doing. I am currently serving as a missionary on Temple Square. I have been able to meet special guests from all over the world as they come to see the events that are hosted on Temple Square. This has been so wonderful. I have been able to assist these special guests in many ways and hoped that they have felt welcomed as they participated in these events. We have been able to visit with some of them briefly and that has really been fun to hear what brought them to Utah!

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

LuAnn
The Holy Ghost is an important part of my life. It has been able to help me know how much Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father love me and my family. It has been able to help me to know that both Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are there to help me when times are not easy, but has also helped me to feel great joy. The Holy Ghost has helped me to make decisions throughout my life that have turned out to be a blessing in my life. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

LuAnn
Perhaps some people really don't understand what the Church is all about. If they understood that we believed in Jesus Christ and His Atonement in our behalf, perhaps we would be more accepted as a Church. There may be some who don't understand about our Temples and what we do there. This may cause some to question our church activities. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

LuAnn
No, not all Mormons are required to serve a mission for the Church, but it is a real blessing in our lives when that opportunity is given to us. We are able to meet such wonderful people who have added much to our life. My husband was able to serve a mission for the Church in Sweden. It was such a blessing to us to be able to go back over to Sweden and see a few of the places where he served. He has such a strong love for the people that he served. Show more Show less

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

LuAnn
Being a missionary on Temple Square has been wonderful. Many of our guests are not Mormons and have been able to enjoy many of the events that we have on Temple Square. There are exhibits on display which tell about the history of our Church. There is even an incredible model of the Salt Lake Temple that visitors can see what the inside of that wonderful temple looks like. Since many of our guests have questions, there are also full time missionaries who are there from many parts of the world and they are able to answer these questions in our guests own language.
