Hi I'm Barbara

I'm a Mormon. I grew on an Idaho potato farm and milked cows in a barn. My mother was a school teacher and writer.

About Me

My husband and I are serving a mission together in an Employment Center. We will serve for 18 months. We work full time helping others succeed in their job search by working with them personally and teaching them the fundementals in a Career Workshop. I also teach a music keyboarding and conducting class. Before my mission, I was a happy homemaker and scrapbooker and seamstress. We have a large and loving family which includes 6 children and their spouses and 28 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors joined the church in it's early stages and sacrificed much so that I could have the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ thoughout my life and be able to share it with others. I gained my own testimony of it's truthfulness and of the plan of salvation when I was very young. Having a serious illness of a child taught me the value of prayer and love of God and others. I am grateful.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have dedicated 18 months of our lives to serve the Lord as we serve our fellow men. We study the scriptures daily and pray always that we can be insturments in his hands. We pray constantly for the welfare of our family and those we help on our mission. We work daily with people who are down and out and depressed and in need. We give them guidance in finding a job to provide for their families. We love to serve others in any way that we can.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. Without the Bible, the Book of Mormon would not be understood. We believe in Jesus Christ and his atonement. The Bible is very important to me. I love to read the stories of Jesus and is apostles and learn from the great faith and devotion they had. Studying the concepts that Jesus taught being great comfort and direction to my life. Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

We believe in marriage for eternity as we are united or "sealed" in a temple of God by proper Priesthood authority. Our children and grandchildren will also be part of our family unit for eternity. That is a terrific comfort to us and to know that we are also united to our parents for eternity makes death much more bearable. It is a comfort to know that life goes on after this life and so do families.  Show more Show less
