Hi I'm Missy

I'm a people-loving, concert-going, literature-studying girl that grew up in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving as a missionary in Northwest Washington for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm an English major. I love music, dance parties, playing soccer, trying to speak spanish, riding bikes, writing, reading, watching films, and most of all, being with people! I have a hard time answering the question "What are your hobbies?" because my hobbies gravitate around the people I want to be with. My favorite thing to do is be a friend. I love loving others, and I know one of the best things I can do in this life to fulfill my divine potential as a spiritual daughter of God, is to reach out to others and lift and love them! That's why I left my dear family and friends to come out here and share a message of peace and joy to my brothers and sisters in Washington! It brings me incredibly great joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I know this church contains the complete truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I know that following it will bring me true happiness, as it does each day. It leads me, and everyone who chooses, back to our Father in Heaven. I know that just as everyone does, there will be really good days, there will be really bad days, and there will be everything in between. When I follow God's commandments, including council from the modern-day prophets, the leaders of our church, I know a lot of "really bad days" can be avoided. I also know there's still going to be hard times, but when I more fully understand the purpose behind them, and how this true, complete gospel helps me grow from them, I become a better, happier person. Every moment of my life that I've been trying to make the decisions and be the person God wants me to, I am happier. It's that simple. And this church, Jesus Christ's restored church on the earth today, is the clearest instruction manuel to life, and living it right.

How I live my faith

In everything I do! I try as hard as I can to be involved in things that are good, pure, and uplifting, and help me be a better person. I'm going to school because I know how important it is to reach beyond myself and study what others have come to know and think. I know the more I learn, the more I'm aware how little I actually know, and I desire to learn more and become more aware! Outside of school, first and foremost, is my family! I know that my family can be together forever, after this life on earth is over, and that we can be happy together. Before I get that far, I know that I must have a firm foundation of friendship and love with my family, so that's what I work on! I love spending time with my family, being there for them as they constantly are for me. Whether it's a phone call, a text message, or a letter, I know helping make my family closer and stronger helps each of us. I love having FUN. I also know there's a difference between good, clean fun, and stupid, bad fun. I try to go for the first. When I fill my life with activities and people that help me learn and have joy in the good things in life, I know it falls into the "good" fun category. For example, I adore music. I'm constantly listening to it in the car, in my home, with my friends, as I walk, etc. I am very aware of every element of it, and how it effects me. When I listen to music that promotes things like love, honesty, and optimism, it helps me in my life, and brings me closer to God. I know that He has created all things, and made all things possible, so I am grateful for those who use their talents to make this world a better place, and I try to do the same. Lastly, and most importantly, I try as hard as I can to follow God's commandments. Two of these are prayer and scripture study. I can talk to my Father in Heaven about everything in my life, and He answers me through the scriptures! As I live His other commandments, I live my faith and am constantly blessed for it.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Missy
There are several reasons, but most of all, because we need to follow the example of Jesus Christ, our elder brother, who asked us to be baptized as He was. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Missy
Talk to Him! Read of Him! Do what He asks us to do! Prayer is a wonderful, simple thing. It is a communication between us and our Father in Heaven. As we express the thoughts of our hearts to Him in sincere and fervent prayer, we are truly talking to Him. He talks back to us through the sciptures, and by studying the things He says, and that He asks of us, we can come to know Him better. Lastly, and most importantly, we must act! We can talk to Him, and He can talk back, but we must follow through, and obey His commandments. As we do this, we reach a higher place, and we grow closer to Him! Show more Show less
