Hi I'm Desirae

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with my mom, my dad, and four younger brothers. I had a fifth younger brother that died when he was one week old of Group B Strep. Being the only girl was fun. I played sports with my family and enjoyed competitive swimming and water polo the best. I also had was my own girl and learned to play the piano and enjoyed doing artsy things as well. My husband and I have been married for five years now and we have three children (a girl and a two boys). I spend my days with my children trying to teach them how to play with each other and how to learn things both temporally and spiritually. I try to make my husband's life easier so he can work to support our family. I enjoy sewing, digital scrapbooking, and coming up with other projects I can do on my own and with my children. I play the piano when I can, but it's not always easy when extra little hands want to help me do it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church by my parents who in turn were raised in it by theirs. I've always known it was the true church here on the earth. One experience that helped to solidify my testimony at a young age was the passing of my one week old brother due to Group B Strep. My parents learned a lot about the Plan of Salvation and during that week. Growing up, I knew that our family would be together forever because my parents were married and sealed together in the temple. To be married and sealed in the temple one day was always my goal. As a family, we read from The Book of Mormon every night. It wasn't always much, just a column at a time, but it helped me to learn that it was true. As I grew up and read from its pages on my own, my testimony of its truthfulness grew. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I know he suffered in Gethsemene so that I can live with Him again. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel on this earth and that Christ's church is lead by a living prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson. I know the Book of Mormon is another witness of Jesus Christ. I know that life goes on beyond this lifes and that I will live together, with my family, forever.

How I live my faith

I currently play the piano for the children ages 3-11 on Sundays. It's great to be with the children and to learn from their sweet examples. I'm especially looking forward to it this year as my daughter has just started to attend Primary. I'm excited to be in Primary with her. I also help with the eight and nine year old girls activity group which meets twice a month. It's nice to be with them and to witness their enthusiasm of being together and learning new things. Some of the things we've done are learning about nutrition, talking about setting goals, carving pumpkins, carolling, and making food. I visit about three ladies a month to see how they are doing and to help them when I can. It's not always easy to make the visits with my children. The lady I make the visits with also has two young children so it's always an adventure, but I feel so good after the visits.
