Hi I'm Clayton

I'm a musician, a husband, and a father of triplets. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm in my mid-late thirties, married with elementary-age triplets, and a dog, and ours is a very happy family--we love each other very much and have a lot of fun. I am a musician/composer/recording engineer, and I love to write or arrange music and record music and make it sound great. I have a modest studio in a room of my house. I play piano, guitar, bass, organ, and I sing. I come from a very musical family and I hope mine will be too. I have a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a masters degree in music technology. We lived in New York for my graduate school and currently live in the Midwest. My full-time job is as a building engineer for commercial buildings. I'm very handy and love to fix stuff and make things.   I also love airplanes and have a pilot's license.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints already, and was raised in the church. In my late teens I desired my own spiritual witness that the things I'd been taught, and which I already believed, were true. After reading the Book of Mormon and engaging in earnest prayer over the course of some days, I received a witness of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon was true, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that the church he established was true. I was listening to a recorded testimony by recently-deceased prophet Ezra Taft Benson, and I became emotional and somehow I knew that the things I'd prayed about were true. I've since come to recognize the communication of the Holy Ghost better, and have tried to appeal to it's direction in everyday life. I have been blessed with direction in many many matters as I've asked for it of my Father in Heaven and listened carefully. I feel tremendously blessed to have the knowledge I have and desire to share it with others freely. The peace and happiness available in this life are greater than many realize, as well as the assurance of eternal life with our Father in Heaven and His son, Jesus Christ, and even with our families.

How I live my faith

Right now my responsibilities in church are to play the organ each Sunday, to direct the choir, and to play the piano in Primary (children's Sunday school). I also have a few families I visit regularly and try to be aware of their needs. I help others when I can with things like rides, music stuff or handyman stuff. I try to be decent, use clean language, build others up rather than tear them down, create beauty, clean up what's messy, be chaste, be honest, and otherwise be a good example as I follow and encourage others to follow Jesus Christ.
