Hi I'm Jen

I'm an accountant and a hair stylist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm/ranch in southeastern Idaho. I enjoyed running through the wide open fields, riding my bike down our gravel road, fixing fence and chasing cattle with my father, canning fruits and veggies with my mother, and catching fish with my bare hands at the local fair each year. I was blessed with the opportunity to attend college and have received my Masters degree in Business Administration. I have a wonderful accounting job at a university and love mentoring and serving the students. In my spare time I travel the world with my former college roommates—we’ve been to Washington, DC and Costa Rica. We’re currently planning a trip to Prague, Vienna, & Budapest. I enjoy anything outdoors camping, hiking, volleyball, gardening, even mowing the lawn! I also enjoy being a hairstylist and I’m excited to be putting a salon in my house so I can do hair whenever I want!

Why I am a Mormon

Simply put, I’m a Mormon because my parents are Mormons. I have been raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For a long time I relied on the testimony of my parents because they were so devout in the gospel. I moved away from home to attend college and realized that I needed to gain my own testimony if I was going to continue living the gospel. I had many experiences that first year away from home and I can tell you without a doubt that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me. My Heavenly Father has a plan for me as he does for each of His children. The closer I get to my Heavenly Father by living the principles of the gospel, reading my scriptures, praying, and serving those around me the more I come to know of His plan for me. Heavenly Father places people, trials, jobs, family, etc into each of our lives to help us become the best person we can possibly be. The gospel helps me to be happy and to feel peace when the world seems to be in turmoil. I am comforted to know that He does hear my prayers and that He answers them with all the blessings He feels I need! I am also grateful to know that there are such things as “eternal families” and that even though a loved one may pass from this life that I can be with them again. I am grateful for a living prophet that leads and guides us in today’s world—he knows and sees the things we are encountering and can petition a loving Heavenly Father as to what guidance he can give us to help us through these times.

How I live my faith

Living within the principles of the gospel has blessed my life. I have been blessed with many opportunities each day that give me the opportunity to practice my faith. I serve as the secretary in our women’s organization. I assist the president and her counselors in conducting Sunday meetings, gathering announcements, and in watching over the spiritual and temporal welfare of each woman within our organization. I have made many life-long friends and learned many skills such as budgeting, gardening, exercise, nutritious eating, etc by participating in monthly meetings within this organization. I work as an accountant for a church-owned university. Currently, I assist the university as they focus on ways to bring continued education to all members and friends throughout the world. We are blessed with a unique opportunity where we can pray and ask for divine guidance before we begin our business meetings and have faith that we will be guided and directed to be able to meet the educational needs of students of all ages world-wide. I also am blessed to live near a temple. Each week I serve in the temple as members sacrifice their time to give the blessings of the temple to ancestors who passed from this life without an opportunity to receive their own temple blessings. I have the special opportunity to serve some of the women as they come to the temple for the first time to receive their own temple blessings. I get to see the joy and happiness as they participate in the necessary ceremonies to create eternal families.
