Hi I'm Mike

I love music, I'm from North Carolina, and I'm on a mission in England. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in North Carolina, on the east coast of the US. I'm the last of five kids in a wonderful family. I love being outside, whatever the weather. Windsurfing, swimming, hiking, kiteboarding, snowshoeing, snowkiting - if I get the chance, I'm there. Ever since a middle school music teacher introduced me to guitar, I've been stuck on it. I love finding new sounds and jamming with my teachers, my buddies, and my brother. I attended a year at university studying physiology, and look forward to picking up my studies again when I come back.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I couldn't be anything else. It's like when Peter said to Christ, "To whom shall we go?" I'm always looking for ways to be happier and to find ways to be doing better. The gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me along my way in a way that I'm not sure anything else could. Where else could I get the blessings that I get as a member of His church? I know my family will last beyond this life, and that I can be with the person I choose to marry for much longer than "till death do you part". That knowledge gives me perspective that I wouldn't trade for the world. I'm a Mormon because I can choose to be happy wherever I am, whatever's going on. My faith in Jesus Christ allows me to look past hard times and know that I can come out a stronger, more refined person on the other side. We're here so that we can have joy! In the midst of all the world's imperfections, we don't have to be worn down by what happens to us and what we see around us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to share the blessings I've been given with whoever's around me. At university, I taught a Sunday school class for the members of our student ward, and tried to use the talents I had to build up the faith and knowledge of both me and my students. Now, as a missionary, I have the chance to do that full-time. I talk to people everywhere about Christ and His church, inviting them to have some of the wonderful things I've enjoyed as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
