Hi I'm Heather

I am a cosmetologist, teacher, and aspiring novelist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a writer, reader and English teaching assistant in Austria. I love going hiking and glorying in the beauty of God's creations. I am a hair stylist by trade, and have been named Edward Scissorhands. I am a simple girl with big ideas about the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in Idaho as a member of the church, being Mormon was just a part of who I was for a long time. When I first moved to Austria I was in a small town two hours away from the nearest meetinghouse. At that point I hadn't been going to church regularly, and suddenly going to church was going to be a large investment of both time and money. Many people asked why I bothered. I bothered because this church is true. The principles taught in it are good. When I follow the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my days go more smoothly, my heart is lighter, and I know that Heavenly Father loves me and is watching out for me. I have studied the scriptures, prayed, and pondered to know of the goodness of the word. I have been answered, not through heavenly visions or a voice from the heavens, but from the peace in my heart. I am a Mormon, because it makes sense. It makes sense because it is true. Truth is the same today, tomorrow and forever. Even logic must agree with the teachings, because they are true. I don't know everything, and we don't have all of the answers, but those who seek, with a humble heart and a true desire to know, God will answer.

How I live my faith

I have moved around a lot in the last couple of years, and so I don't have a specific job, or calling at church right now. I am able to participate in Relief Society and Sunday School lessons, Family Home Evening (with other Young Single Adults), and Institute classes. Although I may not be in the leadership of the church at the moment, nor working strengthening any of the different groups, my experiences and personal revelations help to strengthen those around me, if only for them to know they are not alone. I have had trials and experiences that have taught me valuable lessons. By opening my mouth and sharing the knowledge I have learned, I help by brothers and sisters to be strengthen in their trials.
