Hi I'm Jayson

I'm a native Texan, I'm a husband to a wonderful wife, I'm a father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am finishing my final year of my undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University Idaho. I will starting my applications to graduate schools that have Marriage and Family Therapy programs. I am married and have a son. I am thankful for my circumstances and all the blessings that God has bestowed upon me. I hope that I can use those blessings to benefit my fellow man.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I always had a feeling that the Church was true but I really wanted my own personal spiritual witness of the whole matter. I was going through a difficult time in my life and I moved in with my Grandparents. The first Sunday I was there my grandma woke me up with a simple invitation, "Honey, Do you want to come to church?". I couldn't tell my grandma no, so I came to church and it was the turning point for me. I ended up finally reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know that it was true. I was preparing to serve a mission for the Church and I really wanted to feel what I was going to be sharing for the next two years. When my answer came I was in the middle of telling my older brother how I know that Christ had visited the Americas. The testimony is found in the bearing of it.

How I live my faith

It is simple really, I do the best to live what I have learned and figure out if it is true. For example, from my boyhood I learned from my mother that if I lost something and wasn't having any success finding it I was to pray to God and ask Him for help. After being to embarrassed to try this for years I finally gave into what my mother taught me and I pray each time I lose something. Finding simple ways to live my faith have helped me with the seemingly "big" things. If I could pray for lost keys, certainly God could help me if I felt I had ever lost my faith. Praying for those things that are within the mind of Christ are ways that I live my faith. I do my best to pray for the things the Jesus Christ would want for me, and then I do all I can to help those things come to pass. Sometimes I just need to be still and know that God is in control.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Jayson
WHAT IS THE BOOK OF MORMON??!! Why only the most correct of any book ever written. The Book of Mormon is a sacred collection of scriptures and it is kind of like the Bible in that it was written by many ancient prophets by the Spirit of Prophecy and Revelation or in other words by men who possessed a personal witness of Jesus Christ as Savior of mankind. This Book tells of people in ancient America dealing with God. How they received answers to their prayers and made miracles happen in their lives through trusting in and following what God told them. This Book teaches about what faith is, how to obtain more and more of it and how to exercise it, making miracles. This Book explains the need for a Savior and the consequences of sinning. This Book reveals the Plan of Happiness, or the plan of what happened before life, why we are here and what will be happening after we die. In short, this MIGHTY BOOK will change your life and provide you with such spiritual growth that nothing will be impossible. I love the Book of Mormon, one BIG reason being it is where I found my witness and testimony of Jesus the Christ.   Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Jayson
Well for starters not accessing it in any way, shape, or form. When no one visits those sites, buys those smut-ridden books, or any of the other numberless mediums of access the pornography business would close it's doors. Another way to stop the spread of this modern day Black Plague would be to inform your friends via social network sites, blogs, etc, and link them to news articles on the adverse effects this scourge is having on the world today. “The father of lies and lust … will do anything he can to counterfeit true love, to profane and desecrate true love wherever and whenever he encounters it. … We can reject the evil one. If we want it dearly and deeply enough, that enemy can and will be rebuked by the redeeming power of the Lord Jesus Christ. Furthermore, I promise you that the light of His everlasting gospel can and will again shine brightly where you feared life had gone hopelessly, helplessly dark.” Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, “Place No More for the Enemy of My Soul,” Ensign, May 2010, 46.   Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Jayson
To understand why the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints baptizes new member you must understand what baptism means. Baptism is a covenant. What is a covenant you might be wondering? A covenant is a kind of two-way promise between two parties. From all previous times true followers of the Lord Jesus Christ have understood the importance of making and keeping sacred covenants. The Mormon Church or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the same organization that existed in the times of Jesus of Nazareth. Christ Himself was baptized. What? A Perfect Man having need to baptized by water? Why? Because baptism is a commandment and if Jesus being perfect had to be baptized by water to obey the commandments and remain perfect He had to be baptized. He is the perfect example of what our lives need to be. Why does the Church of Jesus Christ baptize new members? Simple. We follow Christ.  Show more Show less

What is faith?

Jayson
Faith is loving trust in God to the extent that you will actually do what He says. Faith grows as one prays to Heavenly Father and reads the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon and as one strives to live what is taught in Holy Writ. Show more Show less
