Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports and the outdoors. I love to go hunting and fishing, as well as hiking. Throughout my life I have played soccer, baseball, track, and football. In high school I played only football and track. I also love snowboarding, it is my favorite things to do during the winter. I grew up in a small family. I have an older brother and wonderful, loving parents. I am currently on a mission for 2 years to teach people about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Before my mission I attended Brigham Young University to study Construction Management.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have seen how much my life has been blessed because of my membership in the church. I started coming to church when I was about 5 years old and when I was 8 I was baptized by my Dad. The things that I have learned in church have helped me throughout all my life. The Book of Mormon and The Bible are tools to guide us through this life and help us learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have a Prophet on the earth today to give us counsel and guidance to help us come closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. I know that this church is true and that Joseph Smith was called by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth again. I know that the Book of Mormon is true scripture and that the Book of Mormon and the Bible contain the fulness of the Gospel. I know that if we follow the teachings in the scriptures we will be able to return to live with Heavenly Father and our families for eternity.

How I live my faith

I have had the great opportunity to serve in various leadership postions in the youth program while I was growing up. While at BYU I was called to teach a Sunday School class in my ward. Now I am serving a mission, teaching people about the Restored Gospel and helping others come unto Christ. These opportunities to serve others has greatly helped me in my life. I have been able to learn so much and teach others because of these callings. Even when I do not have a specific calling in the church, I live my faith by making good choices and living my life in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord and Heavenly Father.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Matt
We do this so that those people who have passed away without the opportunity to be baptized by someone holding the preisthood authority of God will have the chance to accept that baptism in the spirit world. Through this covenant they will have the ability to progress in the Gospel and have the chance to obtain salvation. Show more Show less
