Hi I'm Michael

I like laughing and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My little girl makes me laugh. My brothers make me laugh. My wife really makes me laugh. Sometimes, even my parents make me laugh. I am a new to fatherhood and marriage. Professionally I work in accounting - the best part about my job is helping people with their number problems.

Why I am a Mormon

A lot of things about life are not funny - tragedy, trial, and sin. Life brings adversity, whether the result of our own poor choices, someone else's poor choices, or natural disaster. Christ's sacrifice gives power over all of these, even death. Being Christian does not eliminate sour experiences, but it does give "beauty for ashes." I have developed a relationship with Christ by reading His words, trying to follow them, and involving Him in my life. His teachings are in the Bible. They are also in the Book of Mormon. I have read both books and believe they are written by prophets, true messengers from God. There are also prophets in modern times, also true messengers from God. Reading and applying the teachings of all these sources has led me to believe in the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS.

How I live my faith

I make daily efforts to pray, forgive, listen, repent, serve, uplift and love. In our home, we set aside one night a week - Family Night - for a scriptural lesson, song, game, and treat. It doesn't take a lot of time but it brings us closer together. In my congregation, I teach a class of 14-15 year old boys each Sunday. We have lessons about Gospel topics and end up sharing a lot of experiences and reading scriptures. We also get together on a weeknight for service, fun, and Scouting. This summer we are planning a 50-mile backpacking trip. That will be a lot of fun - I hope to do a bit of laughing.
