Why I am a Mormon

My entire life I grew up in the church, however--my own personal conversion to the church happened a little over a year ago. I felt very empty, and sad about what my life had been turning into..I felt as though I had lost all control. One night, I got home from a friends house..and started reflecting on my life..and realized how off track Imy life had become. I pondered about the power of Satan and how he can strongly influence us. I then thought about how he gets us to waste our time, and stop us from becoming the best that we can be. I suddenly realized how numb I was to my behavior and all that I was doing and the to think that I didn't even care about my decisions anymore scared me.. I then began to think of the Savior and how when he comes to this earth again, will it be a good day for me or a bad day for me? I thought, 'Would I be afraid to face God?' When we sin, and make incorrect choices it gives the adversary, Satan, more power over us. I got an impression in my mind that I had surrendered myself to Satan--and when I realized that, that was my wake up call to return to the Church of Jesus Christ, full in heart with a desire to follow the truth gospel. I wanted peace, I wanted to know that I was going to be safe, I wanted to know that when the Savior, Jesus Christ comes again to this earth that I can stand before him without fear, shame, or guilt. I decided to commit myself to his gospel, and to give it my all. The most amazing thing, is that the moment I was willing to give it all up for the Lord I felt so much love and peace in my heart. I felt showered with blessings and hope. I truly felt and knew that the Lord was pleased with my decision. It was hard at first to make the changes. I had to sacrifice and truly let go of the world. However, when I look toward my Heavenly Father and made his gospel my number one priority in my life..the blessings I received were and are miraculous. He blessed me with the friendships and support that I needed to help bring me back to him.

How I live my faith

I work with the sisters, the women of the church. I help make sure that each sister in the church in our area is having her needs met and that she is being taken care of. I also help with compassionate service by serving others, and I also get to decorate our bulletin board for where we post our events, photos, upcoming events, etc.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Emily!
No, they are not required to serve a mission. I am choosing to serve a mission because I would love the opportunity to share my knowledge of the church with others, and to help others understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and how it can help them in their everyday lives.
