Hi I'm Gillian

I'm a mum. I love music, art, and the beauties of nature. I like to run and read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of four energetic and imaginative children. I like to sing and draw and paint. I love music and reading, and I'm a runner. I think my kids are way more entertaining to watch and listen to than TV. My husband and I spend a lot of time laughing with them. I have a wonderful husband who loves, understands and appreciates me, even my sense of humor. This probably sounds like I have a perfect family and that nothing ever goes wrong. That isn't true. We have our challenges just like everyone else. Sometimes we don't get along, and we all make mistakes, but we are learning and growing together. It's nice to know that we have each other to help us a long life's path.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the gospel, so it's hard for me to pinpoint the exact time of my conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a work in progress that started when I was very young. I am a Mormon because the gospel has given me a sense of peace and rightness that I have never found anywhere else. I know that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Redeemer and that he lives. I know that I am a precious child of my Heavenly Father and that he loves me and knows me and hears and answers my prayers. Knowing these simple truths has helped me through times of self-doubt, fear, and trials. Most importantly, following the teachings of the gospel brings me joy. It helps me appreciate my blessings. It makes me want to be a better person, and help and serve others, which brings me more joy and more blessings.

How I live my faith

I work mostly with the children at church, which is fantastic. They have the most wonderful spirits and they really inspire me to be humble and teachable and excited about life. I have the privilege of to teach them music and an appreciation for the way the songs can teach us about the scriptures, the Saviour, Heavenly father, and so many other gospel related topics, which help them build their testimonies of truth. I'm also involved in the cub scout program with my husband. This has been a lot of fun. I've really enjoyed our activities and showing the cubs our community. We've been visiting several different organizations and learning about how we can become more involved in community affairs. I feel like we are showing them how they can become good citizens and make our world a better place. I think the way I try to live my faith is by living what I believe. I am a strong believer in the importance of family unity and that our homes are where our children learn how to be productive, positive, honest, courteous, loving people. I try to make sure I am always available to my children and that I'm involved in their lives so that they can talk to me about anything. We spend a lot of time walking to and from school all together and we talk and play a lot along the way, and I think people notice that. My kids notice that I take the time to do that with them and really, they are the most important ones to me.
