Hi I'm Me'Kisha

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom. That's what I do. Occasionally, I mix in some reading or running during my spare time. My husband is a hard worker, and we have two sweet and beautiful kids. The gospel of Jesus Christ and my family are essential parts of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith and testimony in Jesus Christ are the motivating factors in my choice to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I found out at a very young age that Jesus Christ is essential to the salvation of all of Heavenly Father's children. I am a child of God. It's simple, but it implies more than one thinks. Because I am a child of God, I know why I am on Earth, where I'm going and where I came from. I know of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation. I understand Christ's role, and I know that he is the Redeemer of the world. He lives. He will one day return. I strive to prepare myself and my family for the opportunity to live eternally united with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My husband and I made a goal, while we were preparing to start a family, to do our best to help our future children understand how important it is to attend church and to obey the commandments that we have been given. So far, we are trying our best. The real results probably won't be seen until our children are older. However, I'm blessed to work with the youth at church. I've been able to teach classes, plan activities and participate in activities as well. It's amazing to see how teenagers balance their faith with other responsibilities and distractions. Our youth have so many temptations. It's awesome to see them overcome adversity. It helps increase my own faith and testimony. I hope that my children will make good choices throughout their lives. It's something that I am working on as well.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Me'Kisha
Yes, we do. As a missionary, I once sat next to a man who started asking me questions about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was unfamiliar with our teachings, and he had never heard that we believe in modern day prophets and apostles. He asked me why so many people had never heard of our prophet before along with several other questions. I tried to explain that our prophet does speak to people. There are millions of people who know of him and believe that he has been called of God to be a prophet. It is difficult for some to believe that we can have a prophet these days. Many people don't have a desire to know spiritual things. Some think that prophets are a product of the past. If God is the same "yesterday, today and forever," then, it is easy to see that having a living prophet on the earth is essential and important. Who can better help people prepare for the future and teach us what Heavenly Father wants us to know? Here's an important side note. It is impossible to have a prophet without the proper authority. We believe that our prophet, Thomas S. Monson, has received priesthood keys. I found out for myself that President Monson is a prophet of God. I simply asked Heavenly Father. God answers prays. It's truly that simple.  Show more Show less
