Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a wife, mother, home-educator, singer, I'm a foodie and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The well being of my family is always forefront in my mind. I enjoy watching my kids learn and grow and feel that the greatest thing I can teach them is to love the Lord, Jesus Christ, and to follow Him. The talents and hobbies I enjoy include, singing, reading, exercise, board games, clean shows and movies, and maybe just doing something spontaneous once in a while. I often enjoy cooking, although it is sometimes just a chore, but I definitely LOVE to eat!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to church, but when I was just 12 years old I wanted to know for myself if this church was really the true church of Jesus Christ. I already had great faith and knew that if I took my question to God he would answer my prayer. That's exactly what happened. I prayed to know if all that I had been taught as a child was true--including Joseph Smith's work translating the Book of Mormon. My answer came. It was as if the Lord spoke directly to my heart and mind saying, "Yes. You've always known it's true." Because the feelings that came with these words were so good, and so tangible, and clearly not of my own creation, I have never doubted. I live with conviction. I am a Mormon because I love light and truth. I love the peace and hope that only come through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Every day. It's a part of every decision I make. Faith defines my priorities and serving God brings me greatjoy and satisfaction. I cherish my family because of my faith. It helps me see how even the little things like an orderly home, or family dinners bring us closer and make us better as a family and better individuals. Faith makes me want to be a better friend to others, to live compassionately. I try to teach my children that we have hope in Jesus Christ and show them that despite the hardship and tragedies in our world we have reason to be joyful.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Lisa
Simply put, I served as a full-time missionary because I love God. I knew His great work would go forward with or without me. No way was I going to be left behind! When I was deciding whether or not to serve a mission, I realized that it would be a great laboratory for learning. During missionary service, I did not have to think much about temporal things like where I would live or how I would earn that living. I was able to focus almost entirely on service to God--teaching others about Him and his great plan centering on Jesus Christ our savior. What I learned about prayer, personal revelation, the atonement of Jesus Christ and trust in God has stayed with me. I cherish that opportunity and the people I served and served with.
