Hi I'm Merritt

I grew up in the Salt Lake Valley. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord is my Light. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born on October 14, 1973. My baptism was on October 30, 1981. I was confirmed and received the gift of the Holy Ghost in a church meeting on November 1, 1981. My Dad has been there for all my ordinances except for a temple marriage. I'm still single and hope to find an eternal companion. There are many promises made to me in my patriarchal blessing which I hope to realize in this life and the next.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and desire to share my testimony with those interested in the church. I'm very grateful to be a member of this church. I know that this is a great blessing and that there are many blessings in the gospel for those who qualify. In order to qualify for many of these blessings, we have to be baptized through priesthood authority and the laying on of hands to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. There follow other great blessings as we are worthy for them. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and I am thankful for all that he did. He translated the Book of Mormon into the English language and set up the church and the priesthood and all of it's ordinances - including temple ordinances. The Book of Mormon has now been translated into many languages. I know a prophet speaks to us today and that the brethren of the church who follow him in their callings are the Lord's representatives on the earth. I have a testimony of the missionaries - that is why I have chosen to create a profile here. I love the Savior, have a desire to serve Him, and hope to be able to share my testimony and persuade many to come unto Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I enjoy meditation, prayer, scriptures, and thinking about the promises made to me in priesthood blessings and the temple. I am striving to serve others. I love good music, I like to play the piano, and I like to juggle. I'm thankful for the internet. The Lord Jesus is my light. He knows what I have gone through in this life, and will. He will bring about my redemption.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Merritt
We believe that Joseph Smith received the Melchizedek priesthood authority from angelic ministers (Peter, James and John as resurrected beings) who ordained him in 1829. To him, the authority to baptize was conferred (by John the baptist) and to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands was given and passed on to the present day. The priesthood is the authority by which a person may be baptized properly. Joseph Smith received the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods and initiated temple endowments, and the sealing together of families in holy temples. He received many revelations. I know that Joseph Smith was a great prophet! Show more Show less
