Hi I'm Dan

I didn't think church was for me. Was I wrong. It is !

About Me

I'm a husband, a parent and a grandpa. I make my living as a carpenter. Wisconsin has been my home for almost six decades.Three years in the Army in my youth took me to other places in the world. I like wood carving and painting wildlife on saw blades, the round ones.

Why I am a Mormon

At age 23 to young Mormon missionaries knocked on my door. I'd never heard of the Mormons but I was curious as to what their message was. It was a message of hope and happiness, that God still communicates with men and women and children on the earth. But I didn't believe most of what they told me. Some of what they said seemed so new and different. But the missionaries were obviously happy and enjoyed sharing their message so I wanted to now why they were so happy. They taught me how to pray and to pray to know if what they said was correct and from God.I read what they gave me, including the Book of Mormon, and prayed a lot. A couple of weeks past in which I continued to read and pray. Then one morning I woke and I felt different. I knew in my heart and mind that the things they were teaching were true. That God DID communicate to men on earth. I felt that happiness the missionaries had. I wanted to go on my roof top and shout the good news. That was one of the best days of my life.

How I live my faith

When I first learning about the church I did not have a desire to attend Sunday meetings but after going once I was warmly greeted and felt wanted. Now I do my best to never miss going to church even when on vacation because I know that where ever I go there will be new friends trying to live the gospel just like me.There is always a way to serve at church. That service, whether teaching a class or leading music or visiting someone who needs assistance always makes me feel good knowing I could be like Christ and serve those around me.
