Hi I'm Garrett

I'm studying to be an Electrical Engineer. I love making music and learning from other cultures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Western United States as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a Mormon). I learned to love the extremes of weather in Colorado, partially because my father would take me and other siblings on week-long camping trips, in the winter and the spring. I later had to learn to enjoy the climate of the Mojave Desert in California, as well as gain an appreciation for what a friendly community can be like. Through school, I gained a love for reading, math, science, and marching band, and I still try to help my high school marching band in California when I can. I have almost completed my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University, and I am looking forward to opportunities to also complete a Master's Degree in the same field. My education will be on hold, however, for the next two years, as I seek to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first and foremost, because I was raised within the Church and my parents taught me to follow the ways of the Gospel. They taught me that the Church was established and led by Jesus Christ and that I should follow its teachings and standards. I have always planned and worked towards serving a mission and obtaining a temple marriage, and I have learned to be consistent with reading from The Book of Mormon. As I have attended the many Church meetings and activities and read from The Book of Mormon, I have felt the peace of the Holy Ghost and seen the hand of God in my life. I am seeking to trust the Lord and follow His commandments as I grow in my testimony of the Gospel and The Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by seeking to do good things in order to prepare to provide for a future family, and to help my friends, family, church, and community. I have enjoyed helping at local elementary schools in Provo, Utah, as I have attended Brigham Young University. I get to learn a lot from those kids. I have also had the opportunity to help in the Church with teaching elementary-aged kids about the principles of the Gospel and have also enjoyed those friendships. I also try to be aware of other peoples' needs as I travel from one place to another, and I try to take the time to slow down and help someone with a problem they are facing for a moment. I enjoy talking to people as I run into them. A big way that I have lived my faith throughout my life is by following the strict moral standards of the Church and explaining them to others.
