Hi I'm Nicki

I'm a single woman, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a physical therapist, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a single woman, in my mid-twenties. I recently completed my doctorate degree and am beginning a profession as a pediatric physical therapist. I love to dance, sing, play piano, and read. My favorite place in the world is on a sandy beach where I can sit and listen to the ocean.

Why I am a Mormon

Simply put, I'm a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and the Bible, I have heard the words of the living prophet, I have prayed to know the truth and God has answered my prayers. While words can never how I know, I have no doubt that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and that His Father is our Father in Heaven and our God. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ in vision and that he was a prophet and a servant of God. This church- the "Mormon" church, is the same organization that existed in the time of Christ. Jesus Christ is the head of this church. It is Him I follow. I am a Mormon because I know that by living my faith, I will one day be able to return to the presence of my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by incorporating it into my daily life. My faith isn't just about going to church on Sunday. I choose daily to live up to the commitments that I have made to God. I live my faith by loving my family through thick and thin and forgiving them and myself for my shortcomings. I live my faith by serving those around me, by trying to lighten their burdens, and by sharing the love the God our Heavenly Father, has given me. I live my faith by daily participating in a study of holy scripture and by communicating with my Heavenly Father through prayer. I listen to the counsel of God's living prophet and try to incorporate it into my life. Every day I try to draw closer to my Savior Jesus Christ, to become more like Him in humility, compassion, love, and obedience. I strive to have a personal relationship with Him, to know Him, and to learn more of His great atoning sacrifice.

What is being a Mormon like?

Nicki
I think being a member of the Mormon Church is quite similar to being a devout member of most religions. To me, being a member of the church in "normal", it's my way of life. I don't consider the "rules" I follow (for example, abstinence from tobacco, alcohol, or pre-marital sex) to be confining. There are reasons why I choose to live by these guidelines and whatever I may be giving up to do so is worth the reward to live as a part of my church community. I go to church every Sunday and sometimes attend church meetings or activities during the week, but Monday morning rolls around and my week begins just like everyone else around me. I like to work hard and play hard. I love to be with my friends and family. Sometimes people may mock my religious beliefs, sometimes they misunderstand me, but that is part of being human. Being Mormon is just another way to experience life. I choose to live that way because it brings me true joy to live this way. I experience beautiful things because I choose to be Mormon. My beliefs are what allow me to be happy. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Nicki
Just as in biblical times, God has established sacred temples in which His people can worship. In temples, individuals make covenants with God and promise to keep His commandments. Temples are sacred buildings and are dedicated to perform the work of the Lord. In temples, we are privileged to learn about God, or Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ, the creation of this world, the purpose of life, and how to return again to our Father in Heaven. The temple allows us to feel the Holy Spirit and draw nearer to God. Show more Show less
