Hi I'm Nancy

I was born in Barre, Vermont. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and brought up in Barre, Vermont. I have a sister and brother. I'm a mother of 1 son, 2 daughters and a grandmother of 7 grandsons and 2 Granddaughters. Another grandson will be born in June. My husband and I moved permanently to Florida in January 2010 after living in Connecticut for over 35 years. I'm retired and enjoying every minute. My husband is not a member of the church. I like to read, sing, sew, tag/garage sale and play the card game Sequence.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1963, a missionary couple, Brother and Sister Murdock, came to our home and taught my father the gospel. He caught the vision of the gospel and was baptized in November of 1963 without the acceptance of my mother. It was cold, snow on the ground when my father walked with 2 missionaries to their car. He was baptized at the Joseph Smith Memorial in Sharon, Vermont without his family with him. He completely changed his lifestyle. I was 16. There was a transfer and 2 Elders were assigned to our area. I was very active in the youth group of the Methodist Church and sang in the choir. Elder Christensen and Elder Kunze would teach the gospel to me during the week. At the time, they were able to pick me up at the Methodist Church and drive me to the LDS meeting which was held at the Websterville Grange hall. There must have been no more than 20 people in attendance. I felt love and acceptance. My mother began to be taught the gospel without my father or me knowing. On June 23, 1964, my mother and I was baptized at the Joseph Smith Memorial. If it wasn't for my earthly father and the vision he had for his family, I would not be a member of the Church. I testify I know that The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth by the Prophet Joseph Smith. I testify that he saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and was the instrument in restoring Christ's church upon the earth. I testify that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Morman which is a Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is a history of a people who lived on this the American continent. There were Prophets who fortold the coming of the Savior. And the Savior visited these people on this continent after he was resurrected.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures to know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I'm reading The Book of Mormon again and I am reminded that if I obey the commandments, I will prosper, have joy and peace. I also know that the Lord gives us no commandments that he prepares us to accomplish which he commands us. I attend sacrament meeting each Sunday to worship and partake of the sacrament to renew my covenants. I also attend other meetings to be instructed and inspired.
