Hi I'm Earl

I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. I work as a computer consultant. My hobby is woodworking. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma, I work as a computer consultant. My hobbies are woodworking and more woodworking. I like to play basketball and watch college football.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I had questions about the meaning of life and why I was here on earth. If there was nothing else to life except: Being born, Living for some period of time, and then dieing. It did not seem worth all the crap we go through. A Mormon friend of mine took me to a visitors center and we watched a movie on the “Plan on Happiness”. Surprisingly it answered 90% of my questions and made sense. It also gave me a good feeling when I thought about it. But I was determined that being Mormon was not for me. I was asked to read the Book of Mormon and to sincerely pray to get an answer whether it was true or not. I am not a person who reads for pleasure. Picking up a book to read during my free time was the last thing I wanted to do. I sincerely prayed asking the Lord to let me know with out a doubt if the Book of Mormon was true. I picked it up one evening intending to read a few pages just so I could say I had read some. To my shock I found it captivating, I could not put it down. For the next two weeks I was reading almost every night until 2 or 3am and enjoying it. I could not wait to get home to read more. One night while reading I stopped and asked if it was true. I then realized that I had been reading for the past two week (and enjoying it). I had been devouring this book and loving it, this was my answer. I sincerely asked for an answer and the Lord gave me one in a way that I knew it was from him. There is no doubt in my mind that the Book of Mormon is the work of god.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying for and accepting opportunities to serve others. I server the members of our church by teaching classes on the gospel and sharing my experiences of how the gospel has blessed my life. Telling other members and non members the great benefits I have received by being a memer of this church is very fulfilling and exciting. Teaching my children the correct gospel principals that are needed to live a happy and safe life is also part of how I live my faith.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Earl
I try to read the scriptures every morning. This helps me start my day focused on the lord and his teachings. It keep me focused through out the day on what is really important. The influences of the world such as TV, Radio, internet, and other material bombard you with inappropriate and incorrect ideas, opinions, and other material. Reading the scriptures blesses me with the knowledge of how the Lord want me to live my life, what is true happiness, and how I can find that true happiness. It also give me the strength to stand strong against the inappropriate influences of the world that are create by Satan. Show more Show less
