Hi I'm Shannon

I was born in Japan. I'm combining a career as a music therapist & music educator. I love working with children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in several different places and enjoy getting to know wonderful people wherever I am, including those of other faiths or no faith. When I was in college I spent a semester working in an orphanage in Romania and came to love Eastern Europe and the beautiful people there. I am inspired by the resilience of children. I'm a music therapist, and I love finding ways to use music to help people. I'm also an elementary music teacher and love helping children discover the power of music. I love trains, thunderstorms, fried okra, camping, and wind. My nieces and nephew have won my heart with no effort and I look forward to having children of my own. I love my religion and am proud to say that I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

...Because the gospel of Jesus Christ gives the ultimate meaning to my existence on this earth. It is my anchor. It means everything to me. My faith and convictions bring me hope and assurance when I am surrounded by confusion, difficulty, or pain. The atonement of Jesus Christ is at the core of why I believe. He did something for us we cannot fully comprehend, and because of that I trust Him fully and intimately with my life as I live according to His teachings. The peace and hope I find as I align my life with the restored gospel of Jesus Christ cannot be found anywhere else. There are so many reasons I believe. Ultimately, I am a Mormon because I know with absolute certainty that what I believe is true, and I want more than anything to return to my Father in Heaven having done the work He has for me to do on this earth.

How I live my faith

I currently coordinate the music for our weekly worship meetings in my congregation. As part of this I provide prelude and postlude music and accompany the hymns. I also pray morning and night, and often many times throughout the day. I study the holy scriptures daily to learn God's word. I do my best to apply the principles of Christ's gospel to my specific situation. My faith is manifest in the decisions I make every day as my life unfolds.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Shannon
Faith in the Savior is increased as we act on our beliefs and hopes. The process of putting our trust in Him during times when it is most difficult to accept His will can strengthen our faith and change our hearts if we allow ourselves to recognize His hand in our lives. Show more Show less
