Hi I'm Kevin

I grew up on a small farm. I have earned bachelor, masters, and doctorale degrees. I am a college dean. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father of four children, and a grandfather to two wonderful grandchildren. I teach music at a university and am currently serving as a college dean.

Why I am a Mormon

It would be easy to simply say that I belong to the Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints because my family has been a part of this church for four or five generations. While that is true, it does not tell the complete story. A more full understanding includes personal feelings of peace, joy, and comfort; all attributes of a deeper spiritual feelings that it is right. As my family and I adhere to the tenants of this faith, we collectively and individually receive a witness it is true. Even in times of trial and commotion, the sense of peace is real. All that being said, it's really about loving the Lord, Jesus Christ. I have many faults but I feel my love of the Lord is sure and without reproach. I am and continue to be a member because of this love.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by visiting families in my community to offer support in times of need and offer my friendship always. I serve in a leadership capacity in the Church and assist in ministering to others in the community.

What is faith?

Kevin
I believe faith is the action of doing something good because of a hope in and love for Christ. I study and reflect upon the scriptures, for instance, not only because I hope to gain more knowledge but because I love the Lord and have a hope in the promised blessings of peace and joy that come from keeping his commandments. Reading the scriptures is measurable but the experience of feeling the confirmation of the spirit is evidence of truth in doing good. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Kevin
As a basic tenant of our faith, we regard the Bible as the word of God as long as it has been translated correctly. I deeply value the Bible as sacred scripture and look to it often for inspired guidance as I apply it's teachings in today's world. Show more Show less
