Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in Philadelphia where I joined the Army on my 17th Bday. I'm A Mormon.

About Me

I'm an advid adventure seeker, I like backpacking, camping, hiking, fishing, outdoor survival skills, raquetball, and mountain boarding. I've served 12 years in the military with one combat tour. I go to school part time currently with the final goal being a Master's of Science as a Physician Assistant.

Why I am a Mormon

Simply put because I know the Gospel is true. I tried very hard not to believe it was true and to prove it wrong. In the end I wore myself out and finally gave up and just asked God himself. I was overcome with a huge sense of guilt followed by a huge relief because my friends had shared the Gospel with me and the plan of salvation and I knew how to overcome that guilt and set my life on the right track by trusting in Heavenly Father and following his commandments. Once I finally got Baptized and Confirmed and started to really apply myself to Heavenly Fathers word and commandments I instantly started to see many blessings in my life and exterme improvments in my quality of life.

How I live my faith

I've recently accepted two positions to help serve my fellow Saints and those in my community. The first is as a comittee member for our women's group at church and I will assist in planning and resourceing wholesome activities for our adult ladies to participate in. I'm also preparing now to serve as a missionary in my local area. I will help share the Gospel with those in my community and hopefully as God's instrument beable to help them enjoy the same blessings that I have recieved after friends I knew were willing to share with me. In addition to my church activities I also serve others through volunteer service at blood drives and in our local emergency room.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Amanda
Many who refer to the Mormon Church as a cult are largly misinformed with false information. A cult is often referred to as "a fad religion" or one that is followed by a small group of persons with a false leader. However the Mormon Church countinues to be one of the most rapidly growing denominations in the world. We beleive in Freedom of Religion and wish to share the Gospel with others but not force it on them. It is up to each individual if they wish to ask Heavenly Father with a sincere heart if it is a true religion. In the earlly days of the Church Mormons were persecuted, murdered, and chased from there homes. Certainly not something that would qualify as a "fad religion" that would be "cool" to join.
