Hi I'm Amor

I'm a Mormon. And I wouldn't want to be anything else!

About Me

I am a 48 year old roofer. I like to spend my time fishing and going to thrift stores. I spend my spare time doing missionary work and in the service of others. I love to spend time with my wife, my five step children, my two children and our grandchildren. My wife and I got married in the Temple March 5th.

Why I am a Mormon

I was sick and going to the store to get some orange juice and it started raining really hard and we were going to have a bad storm so I ducked under the shelter of the Baptist Church. I prayed to my Heavenly Father to show me to the true Church of Jesus Christ. I did not want to go to just any Church. I asked my Heavenly Father to stop the rain so I wouldn't get wet because I was afraid if I got wet I would get sicker and I had no insurance to go to the doctor. So I asked him to stop the rain. The next thing I knew the rain drops stopped for a minute then the drops magnified and got bigger as if they were the size of golf balls and baseballs and they scattered out six to eight feet apart. I started to think i could walk through the rain and not get wet if I knew where to walk. I heard a voice in my head telling me to go and thall shall not get wet and I heard it a few times as I pondered whether or not I could actually go and not get wet. I made it all the way to the store and never got wet not one rain drop hit me. I was going to wait until the rain stopped to go home but I heard the voice again telling me to go and thall shall not get wet. I thought if one hit me I would get hurt or drown from the size of them. I decided to try to get home and I walked about a half mile home and still did not get wet. I was led by the hand of my Heavenly Father through the rain because I believed that he could stop the rain and keep me dry. When I got home I was confused and pondering what had happened and how I got through the rain without getting wet. Then he sent the missionaries to my door 7 days later and I knew that my Heavenly Father had answered my prayer. This is the true Church and the only Church on the Earth that is set up the way Jesus told us to set up the Church.

How I live my faith

I am a ward missionary and I spend much of my time with the full time missionaries in the service of others or teaching other people the Gospel. I listen to audio tapes of the Church and the Scriptures. I ask people at red lights if they want to come to Church and I try to help everyone i can. I spend my days in prayer and helping those in need. I believe in following and living the commandments as well as trying to develop Christlike attributes. I am humbled daily by my Lord and am always grateful and thankful for the blessing he has given me.

What is being a Mormon like?

Amor
Being a member of the Church is like coming home. It is the only place on Earth where I have felt as close to my Heavenly Father as I do here. I know my savior lives and being a Mormon has taught me that. Our Church is real. We are one big family that helps each other when anyone is in need. I love my Church and all my brothers and sisters.
