Hi I'm Danny

I love to ski, backpack, climb, and camp! I'm from Colorado, I recently graduated from college, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors! I love backpacking, camping, climbing, skiing and traveling in the mountains! I recently graduated from college with a degree in Landscape Architecture and I took a job in Salt Lake City doing landscape design work. I grew up in the church, however for a short period in my youth I was one of just a few members of the church my age. I served a spanish speaking mission to New Jersey and I really enjoyed those two years of service. I enjoy playing sports and running. I ran cross-country and track in high school and I have a goal to run a marathon!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I know this gospel to be true and I have felt the redeeming love of Jesus Christ! I am a Mormon because living the principles of the gospel and following the standards of the church have helped me to find great peace and joy in this life! My own testimony of the fullness of the gospel came when I was a teenager and I was reading in the Book of Mormon. I wanted to know for myself if it was true, and the only way I could do that was to read the book and pray to ask God about it. I remember one night specifically because as I was reading in the Book of Mormon I was overcome with emotion as this incredible feeling of peace of joy swept over me. I was filled with light and joy like I had never before felt. I knew the feeling came from God and at that point I knew that the Book of Mormon was true! Because of this experience I have been able to exercise faith in Jesus Christ, repent of my sins and follow the Savior. I have had so much joy and happiness come from being a member and serving in the church! It is the greatest blessing in my life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by standing up for what I believe in and not being ashamed of what people might think. I'm open to people about what I believe and answer their questions when they ask me. I also live my faith through service. Christ spent his life serving others and when "ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are in the service of your God!" Service to others is how I live my faith!

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Danny
We believe that it is through the grace of Christ that we are saved. This gift has been given freely! Christ's suffering and death has completely and totally paid the demands of justice. He paid the debt in full. By that price, we are all free. We do not believe that we have to earn our salvation. The grace of Christ is made free to all people everywhere! All that he asks of us to receive this free gift is to accept Him as our Savior and keep his commandments! Think of it this way, compare the gift of Christ to piano lessons. Mom pays the piano teacher for the lessons. Our requirement, and what Mom then asks us to do, is practice the piano. She does not ask us to pay her back for the payment of the lessons. All we have to do is practice. Mom's satisfaction from paying the piano teacher is that you learn and play and perform on the piano. Mom does not get satisfaction out of getting repaid by you. Rather the satisfaction comes from the improvements that you make. Christ is like our mother is this comparison. He has paid the "piano teacher" (justice) the full, entire, complete debt of sin! Christ does not ask us to repay him. We could never do enough to be able to afford to repay him. Rather he asks us, and gets satisfaction out of, seeing us practice; seeing us improve in our lives; seeing us make good choices, serve others and live by faith. We are absolutely, positively and completely saved by grace! We are saved by grace, but ask yourself, have you been changed by grace? Show more Show less
