Hi I'm Barry

I'm a husband, a father, a telecom employee, a basketball enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There are so many wonderful things in life in which we can participate. I enjoy being a husband, a father, playing basketball, weight lifting, photography, hunting, woodworking, home improvements, becoming prepared, and learning how to be a true patriot. I'm a father of six and soon to be a grandpa. I believe in the divinity of the Constitution of the United States and am doing all I can to help fulfill Joseph Smith's prophecy about it hanging by a thread and us safely bearing it away. It's so important to be aware of today's threats to our national sovereignty, and to make sure we're not deceived. Choosing good people to represent us in government is one of our most important responsibilities!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the Holy Ghost has testified many times to my spirit of the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Doctrines should make sense intellectually, but when the Holy Ghost bears witness of truth to your spirit, it can't be denied!

How I live my faith

Mosiah 2:17 in The Book of Mormon says "...when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." I live my faith by willingly serving others. A person may say they're Christian, but unless they show it by their actions, I don't believe they truly are.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Barry
Being able to provide for my family is extremely important to me as a father. Not only for the daily necessities of life, but in the case of emergency situations also. Our prophets have given us wise counsel that has helped us to be ready, come what may. I remember my dad going back to school after working as a PhD biochemist for many years. He had been laid off from his job and decided he didn't want to ever be dependent on someone else for his job again, so he went to dental school as a 38 year old father of six! We lived on our food storage for three years. Because my parents had heeded the counsel of the prophets, we were truly blessed! My parents' examples have given me a strong testimony not only about being prepared, but about listening to and following our prophets. Some of my favorite words of the prophets include: "If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear." Doctrine and Covenants 38:30. "The time will come that gold will hold no comparison in value to a bushel of wheat." Brigham Young. "For the moment we live in a day of peace and prosperity, but it shall not ever be thus. Great trials lie ahead...and we must prepare ourselves temporally and spiritually." Bruce R. McConkie. "I ask you earnestly, have you provided for your family a year's supply of food, clothing, and where possible, fuel? The revelation to produce and store food may be as essential to our temporal welfare today as boarding the ark was to the people in the days of Noah."' Ezra Taft Benson. Show more Show less
