Hi I'm Davonna

"I grew up in Florida where I went to school for 13 years without missing a day. I'm a Mormon"

About Me

I grew up in a very small rural town until my high school years when we moved to the city life. I played volleyball, basketball & track. I met my husband on a blind date. I have one boy & one girl. I enjoyed being a stay at home mom. I worked for a few years as a gymnastics coach. I love to volunteer. My favorite singers are Rod Stewart & Charley Pride. I love to read Richard Paul Evans books & Amelia Bedelia. I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2001. I

Why I am a Mormon

I was 21 when I married my husband who was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I noticed how his family really enjoyed their time together & they were not afraid to show their love to each other. I also noticed how they were so willing to help others. Their example made me want to know about the gospel. I must say my mother in law is my angel on earth. I also really loved how the church was so organized with each organization & how everyone is on the same lesson no matter where they live. It brought peace & simplicity in my life.

How I live my faith

I love to volunteer in my community & in the church. Giving of my time to others brings me happiness & joy. Jesus Christ set a wonderful example for us to follow by serving others. My calling in the church is with the young woman age 12-13. I absolutely love working with these girls. They give me hope, they keep me young & active, they inspire me with their strong faith in the Lord. Daily reading & pondering the scriptures gives me the knowledge that I need to live my faith.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Davonna
Being prepared can help our own families & we can also use it to help others. Having food storage can save you money if you are short of cash that month, it can help you survive if you lose a job. In case of a natural disaster you can use your storage to get by. It gives you peace of mind to know you can survive in hard times. We talk about preparedness because it is something that everyone needs to do. It is extremely important to be self reliant. Show more Show less
