Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have an MBA degree with an undergraduate degree in Accounting. I work as an Accountant for a large company. I enjoy working with numbers. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books, watching sports, and spending time with my wife and children. I have three wonderful children.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have always been very active in the church. From a very young age, I have been taught gospel principles both from my parents and many youth leaders. As a teenager, I read and studied the Book of Mormon. I soon discovered for myself the power of its words. I do not profess to understand every principle of the gospel. However, I know with certainty that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. With my knowledge of those two truths, other gospel truths seem to fall into place. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's church on earth.

How I live my faith

I currently am enjoying teaching a class of children. I try to take advantage of opportunities to share the gospel with my own children. I want them to experience the joy of living the gospel that I have experienced.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Shawn
The simple answer is to study the teachings and pray. Heavenly Father does answer prayers. For me, it was not that simple. It took me some time to come to recognize the truth of Mormonism. I spent countless hours studying the teachings of Mormonism, particularly the Book of Mormon. I prayed before and after each time I studied and at many other times. As I studied, I would take notes on the messages that particularly left an impression. I would feel in my heart a desire to make changes in my life to better conform with the teachings. As I would do so, an overwhelming peace came into my life. Perhaps, because I am stubborn, I didn't recognize it at first, but these impressions I would receive as I studied were the Lord's way of answering my prayers. They were his way of telling me that the teachings that I was studying were his teachings and that Mormonism is true. It took me several months of study and prayer to recognize this, but as a result, I now not only know how to pray, but I know how to have a two-way communication with the Lord. I know that Mormonism is true. I think that the most important thing I have learned through all of this is that if you really want to know the truth of Mormonism, then live the teachings that the religion professes. Study its teachings and pray often. You will know that the church is true by the overwhelming feeling of peace that will come into your life as a result of living in accordance with the church's teachings. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Shawn
I have often received answers to prayers by reading the scriptures. Through prayerful study of the scriptures, we learn more about God and his teachings. By learning and understanding the teachings of the Savior, we grow closer to him and learn to understand how he communicates with us. This relationship with our Savior can bless our lives in many ways. When we need answers to prayers, comfort, or assurances that he loves us, reading the scriptures can be a wonderful tool to receive these blessings in our lives. Show more Show less
