Hi I'm Corey

I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I am currently earning a PhD in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love spending time with my kids and wife. I love going to the zoo with my family and spending time outside. We love nature videos. I served a mission in South Korea. I love to read Harry Potter in Korean. I love reading biographies of scientists (Galileo, Einstein, Edison, Rosalind Franklin, Francis Crick, Darwin, Newton, etc.). I love cooking. I earned a BS in biomedical engineering and currently working on my PhD in the same with a specialty in polymeric and inorganic nanoparticle drug delivery for therapeutic and diagnostic applications. I very much enjoy the challenge of discovering/developing something new. I love to laugh and joke around. I love traveling. I have been fortunate to visit Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, England and live in Finland (research stint) and South Korea. I love learning about various cultures and other ways of life. I love to see new things and try things out for the sake of knowing what it is like.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised Mormon, I have decided for myself to stay Mormon. Every person must decide for themselves to continue living in the way they are raised. I decided that I would follow what I have been taught when I was in my upper teens. I have learned for myself that belief and faith stems from hope. I hope that I can live together with my family forever. I hope that there is a life after death. Because I hope for these things I have a desire to live righteously. I have learned that when we are righteous, it is then that we gain a firm belief in the doctrine. As we live righteously we will gain this belief. I know that when we do not live righteously, we will not maintain our testimony. It is easier many times for people to forsake their beliefs than to live with guilt. That guilt is a blessing, as it keeps us in the path we should be heading. Guilt leads us to repentance. My belief brings me great peace. Who would not benefit in living in a world where everyone loves their neighbor, as Jesus has taught us to do? Our doctrine encourages us and helps us be able to serve. Service gives a sense of worth. I would be far less happy without my beliefs. I am a far better person for striving to live better. Although I may never be perfect in this life, I will be far happier trying. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently a ward missionary in my ward. I help in missionary efforts by visiting others with the full time missionaries that are interested in learning about our church. I very much enjoy my calling. In the past I have helped in boy scouts as well as teaching the youth gospel doctrine. I enjoy helping out in whatever way I can.
