Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Dad of six great kids and a faithful and devoted husband to my wife. We have been married for 18 wonderful years. I work as a Senior Manager for FedEx. I love the outdoors, especially long distance backpacking trips. One of my recent trips was a week long trip on the Appalachian Trail.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church as a teen aged kid. I was searching for something. I knew God had a purpose for me that was greater than the way that I was living at the time. I was not a wild child, but I feel now, and knew then, that God had a grand design and that I might play a role in building up His kingdom if I became more like Him. I grew up on a farm and a very dear neighbor friend introduced me to the missionaries. I was baptized and committed myself to live a Christ centered life. That single turning point changed everything.

How I live my faith

Life is busy but good! Work occupies quite a bit of my time, but I find time to stay involved in the community. I volunteer as a Boy Scout leader, in the local theater and in my local congregation and for several charities. I visit a few of the members of my faith in their homes and teach and encourage them in the Gospel.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

John
Actually, yes. Once we are baptized we are all to share the Gospel message with our friends, family and neighbors. This is in conjunction with our everyday lives. However, the church strongly encourages young men at age 18 and women at age of 19 if interested, to go on full time missions. When I was 19, I was called to serve in the Italy, Milan Mission. I was there for two years and then came back and went to college and got married. It was an amazing life changing experience. The people of Italy were wonderful and sweet to us. I learned a new language and how to love people from all walks of life and cultures. I taught the Gospel and served the people in our small congregations in northwestern Italy. We even taught an English class once a week for the communities. Show more Show less
