Hi I'm Drew

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a new father of a darling little girl. I am currently working on a graduate degree in industrial hygiene and am enlisted in the United States Navy. I enjoy backpacking, hiking, snowboarding, and I enjoy playing almost all sports. I grew up in California and Utah and I really enjoy living in Washington at the moment. I play the drums, mostly alternative rock like Muse and Coldplay, and I like to play other percussion instruments such as the marimba and vibraphone. My wife and I love to visit national and state parks and visit other places. We were partners in a scuba class during college and have had many fun adventures since then, including starting our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it gives a firm foundation in a world of shifting moral values. There are so many things going on in the world and many different suggestions on how to be happy in this life that it can be confusing to know who is right. However, I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know whether or not it is true. I can say that I know that it is written and translated by prophets and it is what it claims to be, another testament of Jesus Christ. I am a member because I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. I have felt in my life the power of his atoning sacrifice and I know that through him we can be forgiven of our sins. If anyone ever feels lost and alone, I testify that he is there to answer all our questions and comfort us in our times of need.

How I live my faith

I have pretty much always been active in my faith. As a young man I went to church every Sunday and participated in service activities. When I turned 19 I went to Romania for 2 years to preach the gospel. Since then I still go every Sunday and have had the opportunity to be a teacher for adult doctrine classes and my wife and I had the chance to teach a class for children. That was a very fun class to teach. I also have been on committees where we put together activities and service projects. These have all been very rewarding opportunities where I learned a lot and they have helped my become a better person.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Drew
No we do not worship Joseph Smith. We think of him in the way that many protestant churches think of Peter or Paul, as a servant of the Lord with authority to receive revelation and preach the word of God. He was the prophet chosen by God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ to restore the fullness of the gospel for our day and age. We only worship Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
