Hi I'm Jason

I work with computers, love my wife, and raise autistic kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have six children. Many of my children have autism spectrum disorders and struggle with many aspects of life. My wife, my children, and I take care of each other. I have a master's degree in information technology and work as a computer systems administrator. I enjoy camping, backpacking, and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents became Mormons before I was born and they raised me as a Mormon, but everyone decides whether they want to follow all the teachings when they move away from home and become adults. I read the entire Book of Mormon for the first time when I was in college and prayed to God to know if it was inspired by him. I received an answer to that prayer and decided to share that new knowledge with others by serving a two-year mission in the United States. I have learned in the many years since my mission that God our Father does reveal things to us and works to help us find happiness in life and opportunities for further progression in the life to come. I want to be happy, to help my family also find happiness and joy, and to encourage everyone to seek for the opportunities of eternal life with God.

How I live my faith

Jesus taught us to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and visit the sick and imprisoned. I got involved in teaching Sunday School several years ago as a way to serve God and my fellow men. I still visit people in prison today. God loves all of his children, including those who have made mistakes and broken the law. He doesn't want any of us to feel like we are alone or forgotten. I pray and read the Book of Mormon daily with my family. I also visit several families in our area and share gospel messages with them. I am also serve as assigned in my local congregation. Sometimes, they even let me sing in the choir!

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Jason
I believe in the Bible because it was originally written by people who were inspired by God to write the things they did. I think it is a record of God's dealings with people anciently and tells us about our relationship with him and what he expects from us. It gives me a wonderful sense of God's love and concern for all of his children, in different times and in different places all over the world. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Jason
A married couple, husband and wife, are the heart of a happy life. It is the relationship between a man and a woman, bound together by marriage and taking care of each other and their children that really makes the most important aspects of life work at all. Every other circumstance is demonstrably inferior to families led by a husband and wife who love and care for each other. In our family, I go out and make the money, and my wife stays home and manages the day-to-day affairs of our family and household. We made this choice before our children were born and we have chosen to stick with it. I know other people make other choices about their family roles or circumstances force certain roles, but I am happy with the decision that we made and appreciate the fact that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints supports our lifestyle decision. When so many other forces want my wife and I to choose different roles in family and society, I am glad that our individual choice is respected in our church. Show more Show less
