Hi I'm Stephen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father and grandfather. Professionally I am a film and television executive. I work with some of the most creative producers, writers and directors in the world. Over my career we have produced many commercials, exhibits and films designed to strengthen families and explain who Jesus Christ is and how to find peace and happiness through Him. I love helping others learn about Jesus Christ and His restored gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I had to find out for myself that it is God's church. I followed the scripture's instruction to pray, sincerely, with real intent, having faith in Jesus Christ. There came into my heart a knowledge, a powerful, comforting impression, that Jesus is the Christ and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His original Church, restored to the earth in these days. This has been reconfirmed many times in my life. I have learned about God's priesthood which is the authority that He gives to men to represent Him and perform saving ordinances such as baptism. This priesthood authority is also used to heal the sick and provide blessings to those in need. I received this priesthood by the laying on of hands by one who had previously received it in the same manner. I can trace that line of priesthood authority back to Jesus Christ when he gave it to his original apostles Peter, James and John. I am a follower of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I pray to God daily. He is my Father in Heaven. He answers my prayers. I read the scriptures daily and find great direction, comfort and instruction in them. I teach my family about Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ so they can also find peace, joy and happiness. I love working with young people and seeing their faith and determination to follow the Savior, Jesus Christ.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Stephen
We live just like all other people. We get up every day and work to do our best. We pray, study, work, play, laugh, cry and worship. We are not perfect. We try to do our best. We face all the trials and temptations that everyone does. But as we face these, our faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement provide a beacon of hope and direction. Each Sunday we go to Church and worship. That includes partaking of the sacrament and attending classes where we learn how to be better people. Weekly we try to hold a family night where we talk, laugh, share and have fun. We love to learn about our ancestors and feel that we have a connection with them. When trials come, as they do with everyone, we find peace and solace in the teachings of the Savior and His living apostles and prophets. We feel a desire to share our faith with others so that they might experience the same joy we feel. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Stephen
The Book of Mormon is another witness or testament of Jesus Christ. It is scripture and records the spiritual history of a people who left Jerusalem around 600 BC and were brought to the Americas. It covers 1,000 years of their history. It is a record of God's dealings with them, similar to the Old and New Testaments which contain the religious history of the people in the old world. It is the best book in the world! Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Stephen
Eternal laws require that whenever we obey a commandment, we receive a blessing and whenever we disobey, there is a penalty. Someone has to pay the penalty. We are incapable of doing that since we are mortal and imperfect. So Jesus Christ's mission was to take upon Himself our sins and pay the price. He was able to do this because He is a God. Without His sacrifice (Atonement) we could never pay the price to return and live with God. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Stephen
We believe that Jesus is our Savior. He paid the price of sin through His "Atonement." He has ransomed us, on the condition that we do all we can to obey His commandments. As we strive to follow Him we often fall short. His grace pays the part of the price which we cannot pay. We believe that faith without works is dead. Our part is to do our best. He does the rest. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Stephen
Joseph Smith prayed and asked God which Church was right. He had no idea that God the Father and Jesus Christ would appear to him and call him to be a prophet. Through him God restored Christ's original Church and the priesthood, through which saving ordinances such as baptism are performed. I believe that those ordinances are "duly authorized" and recognized by the Savior. We do not worship Joseph Smith. We respect him as a prophet, just as we respect Abraham, Noah, Moses and Christ's early apostles. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Stephen
We believe that families are organized by God and that He is literally our Father in Heaven. We believe that no other success will compensate for failure in the home. We believe that Mothers and Fathers have a sacred and wonderful duty to teach their children right and wrong. This is best done by setting an example and by living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Parenting is the most challenging, wonderful experience one earth. I have a wonderful wife, six children and 25 grandchildren. We all do our best to follow Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
