Hi I'm Dale

My family and my faith define my life. I strive to follow Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world...and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an average guy with a deep appreciation for for my wife of 40+ years, a wonderful family and this amazing country in which we live. I spent my early career as an advocate for American agriculture, working as a writer and communications manager for a number of regional and national publishing companies and ag organizations. As a lifelong technophile, I expanded my ag interests in the mid-90s as the Internet began to displace traditional publishing channels and began a new career as a technical writer. I've worked as a freelance writer, communications strategist, and business development specialist, most recently leading a staff of 5 great writers as a content manager for a high-tech company in western Washington State. I retired in Fall 2014 and am planning to serve a full-time mission for the Church. My wife and I have had an amazling life together--we remember Sputnik, Kennedy's Assassination and the social upheaval of our day; lived in eight U.S. states; raised seven great children, all of whom have become our best friends. We're now enjoying our beautiful grandchildren. The miraculous, God-authored circle of life continues to unfold before us us all. We love the amazing diversity of life and recognize the hand of our Heavenly Father in every season.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 22 years old after investigating multiple religions and philosphies. I was raised as a cultural Protestant and had a few profound spiritual experiences as a boy, which led to an innate, deep-seated belief in God. Although I learned much and have a deep appreciation for my early Protestant Christian roots, I never found satisfactory answers to what I considered fundamental Christian doctrines. It wasn't until I learned the doctrines of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ that I found answers to these and other questions: * What is the fate of the souls of mankind who never had the opportunity to hear about or accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ while they lived? * Was my birth an "accident" in the grand cosmic process of nature? * Why is Christianity so fragmented when the Savior clearly taught that His people should be "one"? * What verifiable Biblical evidence is there for a professional clergy? After carefully studying the Book Mormon and prayerfully considering its message, I gained a deep and abiding witness from the Holy Ghost of its divine origin, authenticity and importance. The Book of Mormon was the key to my conversion: it unlocked my understanding of the Old and New Testaments, it answered many of my previously unanswered questions, and its teachings have helped clarify the standards for a Christ-centered, virtuous life. The Book of Mormon provides divine clarity about who Jesus Christ is and how He truly is the author and finisher of my faith. Following the Savior is at the heart of all that is good in my life and my hope for the eternities.

How I live my faith

I'm an ordinary Mormon in an ordinary congregation of LDS Christians living in western Washington State near Seattle. With a total lay ministry, LDS Christians have many wonderful opportunities to serve and teach each other and our local communities through sacred church "callings." Our opportunties to serve through the years have brought me much joy. We love to serve and help others learn about the four-fold mission of the LDS Church: Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, redeeming the dead who never heard about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this life through temple work, perfecting the members of the Church through helping serving each other, and assisting those in need both inside and outside the Church.
