Hi I'm Mikila

I live in California. I'm a mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home mom of 2 boys. I love to read, play with my kids, spend time with my husband, scrapbook, and watch baseball.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were married in the Salt Lake Temple and I was born 18 months later. We went to church every Sunday and we led what, I felt, was a really happy life. Then, at age 13, my parents divorced and that started my path of questioning what my beliefs were. I had ups and downs on my quest to find out what was true. Eventually, I decided to read the Book of Mormon and do exactly what Moroni asked, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." Before I even came upon this scripture near the end of The Book of Mormon, I already had my answer. I KNEW that The Book of Mormon is true. With that knowledge, everything else became easier. I'm a Mormon because I know the gospel is true and I want to live with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I visit three women a month to chat and talk about Jesus Christ. I help plan monthly activities for the women at church. I teach my children about Jesus Christ.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Mikila
Throughout my life I've been taught I should read the scriptures every day. I will admit there have been times I have not been so good at this. As a mother of 2 small children, I've found it even more difficult to find the time. After my second son was born and I was adjusting to life with two kids, I was feeling frustrated and tired most days. I decided that I needed to do something different and so I resolved to start reading my scriptures every day. I read 3-4 chapters every morning and the difference I have seen has been remarkable. Are my kids behaving better? Maybe not, by my patience is growing and I am feeling less frustrated and more peace. These are just some of the blessings we can receive by reading the scriptures.
