Hi I'm Sean Michael

I make video games. I'm a husband and dad. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a member of the Church my entire life. I'm a dad, a husband, and a Video Game Producer. I enjoy reading books, comic books, playing video games, writing, and hanging out with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've prayed to know if the teachings of my Church are true, and I've received a spiritual confirmation that they are. I've specifically prayed to know that the Book of Mormon is a true record of the people who lived anciently in the Americas. It is. I've also prayed to know whether the (frankly) fantastic story of the youth, Joseph Smith, being visited by our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, actually happened. It did. It's not always convenient living according to the principles of the Church, but I know they are true, and my gratitude to my Savior, Jesus Christ, for giving His life for me helps me focus on my eternal potential.

How I live my faith

I try to read the scriptures every day (and do most of the time!). I pray with my family every night before we go to bed, both with the kids and with my wife. We sing their favorite songs from Primary (youth classes at Church). I attend Church weekly, and attend the temple in Washington DC monthly. I serve in different roles in my ward (congregation), and I volunteer occassionaly at the food bank in downtown Baltimore.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Sean Michael
We did in the early days of the Church, and only when instructed to by the Lord. It must have been difficult for many of those involved, but I'm thankful for the lives it blessed - the women who were able to receive emotional and financial support, the children who were in a more protected situation than a fatherless existence could have provided - but I can't try to explain something as seemingly unorthodox as polygamy using my limited reasoning. The fact is that the Lord has cammanded polygamy at various times in the Bible and more recently. He has also commanded the end of the practice for reason known to Him. Ultimately, if we are asked to do anything by the Leaders of the Church, we are encouraged to pray to receive a personal confirmation from Heavenly Father whether we are being asked to do something correct. He will never lead us astray. Show more Show less
