Hi I'm Rebecca Jeanne

I'm from Arizona.

About Me

I have two children. I was an elementary school teacher before I was married. I like spending time with my family, being outside, playing the piano, baking, and reading the scriptures!

Why I am a Mormon

There are a lot of different churches with different beliefs. Jesus didn't teach conflicting ideas, but after His death and the deaths of His apostles, people started changing the way things were done. For example, Jesus was baptized by by being immersed in water by a man who had authority from God. Later, church leaders decided to change the way baptism was done. This is just one example of how people stopped looking to God for how things should be done in His church, and started deciding for themselves. If it is going to be Jesus Christ's church, things have to be done in His way. So He has to still be at the head of His church, leading it by revelation to a prophet. That is why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jesus does speak to a prophet today and leads His church through him. All of the truths and ordinances that Jesus taught when He was on the earth have been restored again and we can participate in them and know we are doing it in His way and not man's way. I know that God loves everyone and He wants us all to find happiness so He calls prophets and has restored His truths in our day.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday at a chapel not far from our house. The first hour everyone is together to hear talks and take the Sacrament; the second hour we divide up by ages to study gospel topics and the scriptures, and the third hour I spend as a leader of the young women ages 12-18. I also attend a fun mid-week activity with the young women. I visit other women in our congregation during the week and different women visit me. We talk about the gospel and see if there is anything we can help them with. I also spend a little bit of time every day reading the scriptures. I've found that when I read them every day, I feel peace and I remember that God has given me everything I have.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Rebecca Jeanne
The Atonement of Jesus Christ was His suffering and death for us. He not only suffered when He hung on the cross, He also suffered beyond anything we can comprehend when He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before His death. That night in Gethsemane He took upon Himself the sins of every person who would ever live so that we could have the opportunity to repent of our sins and have them taken away by Christ because He already paid the price for them. He also took upon Himself every pain we will ever suffer, whether it be physical, emotional, or whatever. He did this so that He could understand exactly what we're going through and know how to help us through it and lift us out of despair. He sacrificed His life for us so that He could resurrect, making it so that all of us will resurrect too and not be lost because of death. Because He lives again we will also live again and we can be eternally happy and be with Him if we choose to follow Him in this life. Show more Show less
