Hi I'm Curtis Keller

About Me

I am married to an amazing woman, and we have five wonderful children who keep us very busy (ages 6 months to 14 years old). I run 4-5 times a week and run an occasional marathon. I keep myself busy with family time, work, church service, and running. I love to coach my kids' basketball and soccer teams.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Mormon church in 1967, just a few years before I was born. My mom had been married twice before, and my dad had been married once. They had two children between them, with two more still to join them a few years down the line. My mom stayed at home with the kids, and my dad was a private detective with a huge liquor collection. My mom was pretty dedicated smoker. My dad offered offered a man a position in my dad's company, but the man refused to accept the job unless my mom and dad would learn about the Mormon church. My dad really wanted this man to work for his company, so my parents reluctantly agreed. After learning the principles of the Gospel, attending church meetings, seeing the fruits of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the strong, united families, and receiving a spiritual witness that the Gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, they decided to be baptized. Consequently, I was raised in the Mormon Church. But that doesn't explain why I am still a Mormon. I am a Mormon because it gives me a purpose in life. I am a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me hope that through Christ I can be made clean and whole. I am a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ provides a way to be with my family forever, even after this life. I am a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ provides direction and guidance through living prophets and apostles on the earth today. I am a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to be a better husband, father, son, person, and employee. I am a Mormon because I have felt the Spirit witness to me that the Book of Mormon is true and that God's church has once again been restored to the earth.

How I live my faith

Though I often fall short, I try to live the laws and principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on a daily basis. I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve in various capacities in our congregation. I try to be honest in my business dealings and treat people how I would want to be treated.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Curtis Keller
Not at all. We revere and respect Joseph Smith as a prophet of God, just as all Bible-believing people revere and respect Moses, Isaiah, Peter, Paul, and numerous other prophets God has had on the earth. Through the prophet Joseph Smith, God and Jesus Christ restored the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. Like other prophets, Joseph brought forth scripture in the form of the Book of Mormon and other inspired documents. We worship Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, and we believe that it is only through the Atonement of Christ that we may be saved from our sins and live with God again. The teachings of the prophet Joseph Smith strengthen our faith in and testimonies of Jesus Christ. In short, we worship God the Father and Jesus Christ. We revere and respect Joseph Smith as a prophet of God. Show more Show less
