Hi I'm Chris

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old, and am currently a Senior in college majoring in Accounting. When I am not studying, I enjoy running, reading, and spending time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have been members of this church since before I was born, so I was raised in the church. There have certainly been times in my life when I wanted to make sure I am a member of this church because I believe in its teachings, not because my parents want me to be a member. I have talked to people of other religions, studied them, and prayed about this. While there are gospel truths taught in each church, I do feel that the LDS church is the one completely true church of Christ. My membership in this church is very important to me because by living true principles, I can become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I think a lot about trying to be a better person and live the Savior's teachings. Prayer has probably been the most helpful thing in my life in becoming a better person. It has definitely strengthened my relationship with God. I try to study the scriptures at least an hour each day. It is so amazing how much you can learn about life, God, and who you are just by taking the time to study it. I have been getting involved in family history with my dad and grandmother. As part of a church calling, I index government records from microfilms and help make the text available online for other people doing family history.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Jesus said "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (KJV St. John 3:5). To be "born of water" means to be baptized. Many of God's children have died without being baptized, and they cannot be saved in the kingdom of God without baptism. By performing proxy baptisms for the deceased, we further God's work by giving the deceased the opportunity to become part of His kingdom. Show more Show less
