Hi I'm Jared

I'm a businessman, a musician, a husband, a father. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a businessman who has a bit of an entrepreneurial streak. I worked at a large investment management company before moving to my current job with a small firm that provides investment advisory services. I also have strong professional experience in information technology, including business systems analysis. I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife and young family. In my spare time, I also dabble as a composer, arranger, producer, and keyboardist. I write in a variety of genres, including pop, choral, alternative, Broadway, and indie.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon and believed in the church's teachings. It was, however, my experience as a full-time missionary that taught me the depth of our Savior's love for us. During my mission to Taiwan, I learned that God really does care about each and everyone of us. I have one distinct memory of going over to a woman's house to help cut down trees. As we visited, she talked about life in general: the goals she had for her daughter, the challenges in establishing a happy home. and her desire to share her belief in God with her husband. At one point she wondered, out loud, where all these thoughts came from. And as I listened to her, I suddenly had the understanding that these questions were evidence of God's continual influence in her life. Her desires to live a happy life where from Him and he was doing His best to help her find happiness. I learned from this experience that though we might not always recognize His influence, he is constantly guiding us toward happiness and truth. Since my mission, I've had many other special experiences that have helped me understand how much God cares for us. I know that life's little coincidences are more than just coincidences, but God's way of showing that He cares about the details. Regardless of our age, ethnicity, or backgrounds, He is constantly there teaching and guiding us towards peace and happiness. This is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

As an American Born Chinese, I treasure my rich Asian heritage and the uniqueness of being LDS and Asian American. I have the unique opportunity of serving in a Chinese Branch (i.e., a smaller congregation) in Orange County. It is one of the first congregations in Orange County that utilizes Mandarin as its primary language. As I've served in this branch, I've gained a vision of what it means to be part of a community that is of one heart and one mind. All of us have the same goal, to draw closer to Christ and serve others as He would serve us. It is wonderful to be apart of something that is so genuine. Everyone truly cares about each other.
