Hi I'm Ryan

I am a happy father, devoted husband, and computer gamer. I'm also a Mormon and do my best to follow Christ.

About Me

I was lucky enough to grow up in a family filled with love and fun. My parents loved each of their six boys and we brothers loved each other. At least most of the time :). I met my sweet wife in college on one of the dance teams. It didn't take me long to fall in love with her! She was filled with so much goodness, compassion and kindness - she treated others like I always wanted to be treated. It took some work, but eventually she decided I wasn't so bad myself. I have grown up a lot these past years and am grateful for the opportunities I have to learn and grow. Being a father helps you find the cure for selfishness as you give service to those in your care. At least, it has worked that way for me. Life is great!

Why I am a Mormon

Is it true? I had lived a good life and was happy, but I needed to find out for myself. I believed that there was a higher power and felt in my heart that he would answer me if I had my heart in the right place, really desired an answer, and would follow whatever path he told me to follow. I thought about it for some time and then finally decided to ask in the quiet of my room one Sunday night. It was a simple request and I was prepared to stay up all night for an answer. What followed a few minutes later is hard to describe. I have felt the inspiration/enlightenment/promptings of God many times since, but only one other time as powerfully. It was a transcendant experience and I knew that I had been answered by a being that I could only scarcely understand. I did know that I was heard, and that I was somehow familiar, loved, and important. That magnificent answer and the decisions I made following it have led me to understand and know that God had called a prophet on the earth again who restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. I am so grateful to have been blessed with a wonderful life and to know who I am and where I came from.

How I live my faith

One day at a time! I try to help my wife as much as I can – I figure that if she is still glad she married me than I am doing alright in general. So far so good! I try to be a good Dad – my children deserve my attention, time, and concern and I love to be with them! Each child gets personal interaction each day – that is my goal! I study the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I learn from modern prophets and teachers as well. I read other wholesome and uplifting books. I could use more sleep, but that is at odds with my computer gaming hobby so I struggle with that a bit. When I am serving I'm not selfish, so I try to help out as much as I can. There are plenty of opportunities, and I have been lucky enough to work with some great Young Men in our local scouting group. If I am called I will go. Just ask, and I'll be there to help!

What is the Law of Chastity?

This is probably the most common question asked in a sincere way, probably because popular culture is so different from the standard that we should follow. Being chaste means more than honoring your spouse by being physically faithful. It means being modest in dress, thinking of women appropriately, and avoiding indecent experiences. Trust and honesty are essential to a healthy marriage relationship. Our confidence in each other, and the happiness we feel every day comes from the knowledge that there is nobody else to compete with physically or emotionally. I feel comfortable about sharing my fears, concerns, and sweet experiences with my wife because I am not constantly being evaluated. Chastity is happiness, integrity, and trust. As a man, it takes some work and discipline, but the benefits are amazing! Show more Show less
