Hi I'm Karen

I am a wife and mother. I love spending time with my family. I love to learn about my Savior Jesus Christ and his gospel.

About Me

I am a mother of one girl and seven boys. I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy learning/ reading, hiking, outdoor activities, cooking, sketching, traveling, etc. I enjoy seeing the beauty and variety of the the world!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a mother and father who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I grew up listening to my mothers conversion story when she was a teenager and felt her love and appreciation for the doctrines of the gospel. The gospel greatly blessed her life. As I grew, I also gained a love an appreciation for the gospel. I love learning about God and have always been happy to know that he loves and watchs over his creations on earth. I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ and want to be more like him.

How I live my faith

I enjoy volunteering at my children's elementary school. I have served as a committee member for a Boy Scout group, and have been able to participate in scout board of reviews and Eagle court of honors. It is wonderful to see what the young men are able to achieve through this program. I enjoy doing various service projects. I also feel that in striving to be honest, continuing my education, helping others, being a valuable member of the Relief Society organization and striving to be the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, and citizen etc. I can be, is a part of living my faith.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Modesty, language and chastity are all connected in that our bodies are sacred creations made in the image of God. Therefore respecting this sacred gift means reserving physical intimacy for marriage between a man and woman, covering our bodies appropriately in dress and using language about the body that is always uplifting. Parents can teach their children that when they show respect for their bodies in this way, they can qualify to have the benefits of having the Holy Ghost with them. Show more Show less

Who are the Mormons?

Mormons are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was organized in 1830. As of 2010 the Church had a worldwide membership of approximately 14 million people. The Church headquarters in Salt Lake City Utah. Mormons believe the Bible and Jesus’ teachings in revelations to modern-day Apostles and Prophets. Mormons believe that their church is the same as the original church Jesus established when He was on the earth (see Ephesians 2:19-20, 4:11-14). The name ‘Mormon’ is a nickname because of the Church’s belief in the Book of Mormon (ancient scripture revealed to and recorded by prophets in the Americas during the same time the Bible was being written in the Old World.) Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

The Holy Bible testifies of the divinity of Jesus Christ and has influenced and sustained millions of His followers. It is a collection of sacred writings containing God’s revelations and accounts of His dealings with His children in the Holy Land. The historical accounts in the Bible cover many centuries, from the time of Adam through the death of the Apostles. Likewise most of the books of the Bible were written by and about prophets who lived at various times in the history of the world. As you probably know, the Bible is divided into the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament contains sacred texts written prior to the birth of Christ. Many prophets in the Old Testament fortold the coming of a Savior and Redeemer (See Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, 53:3-7). The New Testament tells of the life of that Savior and Redeemer, who is Jesus Christ. It also tells of the establishment of His original Church. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

I think that the life style of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is like that of really anyone. I think everyone wants to strive to have a happy family and to do good to help others. Most people seem to know a "Mormon" and that they don't smoke or drink alcohol. We believe that God is our Creator and that as creator he knows what things are healthy to help our body run at its optimum level. This would extend to more than just food that we intake, but the type of movies we watch and the music we listen too. We believe that God wants us to learn and grow and that we can do that best as we strive to take good care of our physical and spiritual bodies. Show more Show less
