Hi I'm Laura

I am a mother. I am a farmer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mother of one, with many more to come! My husband is a General Contractor, and we have a small farm in Western Oregon. I enjoy gardening, food preservation, taking care of our animals (chickens, dogs, horses, cows, pigs, and bees) and cooking. I love to play the guitar and sing. My 9-month-old keeps me on my toes most days, and I LOVE my life!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Latter-day Saint family, but that's not why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When I was a teenager, I stopped going to church. My father was not active in his faith, and was terminally ill at the time. After he passed away, I grew to realize that, if I wanted to thrive in this life, and really enjoy what I was doing, I needed to go back to church. The Gospel of Jesus Christ offered me just what I needed: peace, comfort, a knowledge that I would see my father again. My leaders in the church taught me that the Lord knew who I was. He knows my name to this day. He knows what I am going through. I need his continued revelation and guidance in my life. Now I know exactly where to find it.

How I live my faith

I am the Provident Living Specialist in our ward. I oversee a committee of members who help people in the ward learn how to better prepare for emergency situations in their lives, learn to live within their means, and learn how to become more self-reliant through home gardening, food preservation, etc.
