Hi I'm Sarah

I am a mother, an entrepreneur and a passionate educator... and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah but raised in Japan. Moving back to the U.S. as a teen was a culture shock to me. I met my husband at school and we got married. I graduated with a degree in Biotechnology. Now we live in Pittsburgh and have three awesome boys. My husband and I co-founded a business together that has created unique products to engage, immerse, and fascinate children while teaching them. I homeschool our three boys. I love to read, write, play games (board games, iPad games, video games, you name it), make games and yes, watch some good TV like Sherlock or Doctor Who. The kids and I love to go to the Carnegie Museums, the Phipps, free concerts, the awesome local libraries and everything in between. We love Pittsburgh! You all should come visit.

Why I am a Mormon

I was "born in Church", as they say. This means both my parents are strong and active members of the Church. I coasted on that for a while, but when I was twelve years old, I wanted to know, is it true just because my parents say so? So I read the Book of Mormon. I went down on my knees and I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. If I could start with that I could start building something. I got my answer. Being a Mormon is a process. I have, since that time, obtained a testimony in many things since gaining my testimony of the Book of Mormon. I am a Mormon because I love my Father in Heaven and I want to go back to Him and I want to bring as many of my family, friends and people I haven't even met yet, along with me.

How I live my faith

My faith is in everything I do. It is who I am. I see God's hand in my life and I try my best to stay connected to Him. I teach my children about God every day. They know that the small miracles in our lives are not coincidences but signs of a loving God watching over them. I know that if not for divine intervention our dreams for our business would be just that, dreams. This sort of knowledge allows me to walk confidently out my door and yet feel humbled by my Father in Heaven. I try to show this in my actions. Helping those I know need help. Giving because I have been blessed. Looking at others not to judge but to love. I'm not perfect and I lose sight of what's important and when I do I know it. I become more self centered and unhappy. The awesome thing is that through the Atonement of Christ I can come back. I try to live my life in accordance with my faith.
