Hi I'm Adrian

I am English. I am a University Lecturer. I'm a Husband, Father and a Grandfather and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and a father and a grandfather. I joined the church when I was 19. I enjoying music, I play bass guitar in a band. I also enjoy sport, travelling, reading and photography.

Why I am a Mormon

I first met members of the Mormon Church when I was at college playing Volleyball. The College Team and the local Church team trained in the same gym. I was impressed with the friendliness of the church members and after leaving college I continued to train with them and play in the church team. I began asking questions about their beliefs and asked for a copy of the Book of Mormon, as I love reading. I took the book home and began to read it, asking questions as and when I had them. I began attending social events at the church and made some good friends there. Over a period of 3 years I completed my reading of the Book of Mormon, attended church and asked lots of questions. I finally decided that I needed to pray to God and ask him whether the Book of Mormon was truely a Book of Scripture. I had read it several times and it made sense to me but I needed a spiritual witness. My prayers were answered as I felt the warm glow of the Holy Spirit fill my body and confirm to me that the Book was the Word of God. I was baptised by one of my friends and have been attending church ever since. I met my wife at church and we are now married with 4 children. Because the church ordains all male members to the Priesthood I have been able to baptise my own children as well as my Mother, Father and Brother. I like to emphasis on the family. I have great relationships with my children and grandchildren and love spending quality time with them. Joining the church changed my life and I believe it has made me a better person husband and father. I have a personal testimony that God loves all of us, That Jesus Christ is my Saviour on a very personal level. That the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God and that we can all be blessed by living the principles taught in them. I also have a witness that God has called a Prophet and Apostles in our day. It has been my priviledge to meet many of them.

How I live my faith

During my time as a member of the church I have spent a lot of my time working with young people, and I was the Minister of my Local Congregation of 150 people for 6 years. (All service in the church is on a voluntary basis and is unpaid.) That responsiblity has now been passed to someone else and I am working with the young adults again. Each year I help to organise an activity weekend for 350 or more 18-30 year olds. It is hard work but it is a lot of fun. When I was younger I volunteered and served as a Missionary for the church in France. I was able to meet many wonderful people and teach them about the Saviour Jesus Christ. I was also able to learn to speak the French Language, which I have been able to use in my professional life. I recently spent a year studying at a French University in Angers and found that the local members of the church were a real support to me whilst I was away from my wife and family. They often had me over for dinner, and I also had the opportunity to work with the young people at the church there. In one of my University classes the teacher asked, "how many of you have eaten in the home of one of the families in the city of Angers? I was the only one who was able to say that I had. Becoming a member of this church truly changed my life and in addition to learning a foreign language I also learned about public speaking, how to give presentations, how to teach, and how to organise large scale events. Not bad for a shy and self-conscious teenager!
