Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young college student who comes from a mixed family. My Mom is Mormon, while my Dad is an assistant pastor at his church. As a result, religion has always been an important thing in my life, and choosing which to follow was a big choice for me.

Why I am a Mormon

As stated in my "About Me" section my Dad is an assistant pastor in his church, and my Mom is Mormon. That caused quite a few problems in my youth, resulting in my parents divorce when I was five. Though my parents kept a civil relationship after their separation, religion was deeply important to both and each taught me what they could. At a young age I found myself confused about what I should do and which religion to join, especially since my Dad is strongly anti-Mormon. Both of my parents had taught me that if I needed help from God, I could ask Him, so that's what I did. One night I simply knelt by my bedside and asked God which church I should join. In a way I can't truly explain with words, God answered me, and I have been a firm member of the Mormon church since.

How I live my faith

For those who have seen Mormon Missionaries riding their bikes through town in shirts and ties, you may have seen me. I spent two years as a missionary in the Houston Texas area, where I worked with the Spanish speaking people. Back home I work with the Spanish speaking people in my congregation, teaching the Spanish Sunday School class to them, since most have been Mormon for a short time.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The Mormon missionaries will often first talk about the origins of the Mormon Church and how you can find out if what they are telling you is true. They will likely share a message that is new to you, but deeply important. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Simply stated, no. Groups that have left the Mormon church but still use the term "Mormon" to describe themselves sometimes practice polygamy, but the religion most commonly referred to as "Mormon" (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) do not practice polygamy. Show more Show less
